The iconic game show will return next week for its Season 39 premiere with Sajak adding consulting producer to his duties following the exit of executive producer Mike Richards. The show's set and theme song will also be modernized. Jim Thornton, who will mark his 10th anniversary as Wheel of Fortune announcer, will get an expanded on-screen presence in the new season with a new podium on stage. And Sajak will no longer do the “Final Spin” of the game -- instead, it will be done by one of the contestants. Maggie Sajak, Pat’s daughter, will be joining the show as social correspondent. Additionally, more money will be up for grabs in Season 39 with the removal of the “Free Play” wedge from the Wheel which was replaced by an $850 wedge.

Wheel Of Fortune has always liked to add new and exciting changes to each season much like a chef adding new ingredients to a new dish. Wheel Of Fortune's 39th season is sure to bring new excitement in the air. For instance having a contestant do the Final Spin instead of Pat Sajak is such an honor and I'm glad Pat is retiring from his Final Spin duties because he deserved a break and by having a contestant doing the Final Spin is a treat. But it is sad to see Free Play go because that was my favorite wedge on Wheel Of Fortune and when I have played Wheel Of Fortune on my Nintendo DS I used Free Play for buying vowels. Why couldn't the Mystery wedge go instead? But having an $850 wedge is awesome and maybe they could add a 2 Million Dollar wedge next. It's also wonderful that Jim Thornton is celebrating his ten year anniversary as announcer and he's very talented and I don't know how they chose him to fill Charlie O'Donnell's sneakers because he does a great job. I can tell this season of Wheel Of Fortune is gonna be fun
