That shows how much the big shows on Thursday nights carried the night. Seinfeld, Friends and ER were to most people truly "must see TV", however the shows you mentioned were all horrible. The only exception might be The Single Guy, I can't say because I really disliked Jonathon Silverman so I never gave the show a fair shake. Mid to late 90's Thursday nights weren't must see to me, but as I got older did appreciate Seinfeld a bit more (aside from the finale). I do wish I would have gave ER more of a chance, but it seems whenever I like a show it gets canned in the first 2 seasons.

Madman of the People starred Dabney Coleman, NBC expected it to hit big but was overshadowed by Friends premiering the same season. At the time Mad About You led off the night.
