I remember as a kid buying the cartoon character bars off those trucks. Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers had one in the shape of Dale's head with a gum ball for the nose. I also bought the Mario Bros. ice cream bars.

When I was a child in the '70s, I always got the grape flavored ice pops for 10 cents at the ice cream truck. I loved them. Once in a while, I'd get the red, white and blue ice pops for 15 cents I never got ice cream, always ice pops.

Eskimo Pies were my favorite, as a kid. Of course, you had to eat them fast in the summer, or they'd fall off the stick!

We have the Mister Softee trucks that serve soft-serve cups, cones and shakes. I always went for vanilla cone w/ rainbow sprinkles and still do.

I never really went for the Good Humor items at the truck since you could buy those anywhere.

Mister Softee was Good Humor's competition ! I don't recall their trucks coming down our block/our hood though so we always got Good Humor !! ;)

We didn't have an ice cream truck in my area growing up. The only way we could get treats like these was at school and that was limited to chocolate, strawberry and vanilla in either cups or ice cream sandwiches and my favorite, Hershey's scooter crunch bars in chocolate and strawberry.

I liked those red, white and blue popsicles too. They were colorful and refreshing, but I preferred the more fattening creamy ones better !!! ;)

Along with the three I already posted , I also liked a Coconut cream bar from Good Humor, I can't find a pic of one on line , but it was like this but seemed bigger ! ;)

I was went for the ice cream sandwich or the drumsticks.

The only time you see me run, is when I see the ice cream truck.

There's also a Spider-Man ice cream that I liked, but it was something that I didn't have very often:

I liked toasted almond, coconut (the one with the flakes), and parfaits. Sometimes I'd get sky blue ices.

I grew up near a Carvel and that was better. Love their hot fudge sundaes to this day.

It was many years ago , but the coconut I remember didn't have flakes , but it was a large, delicious coconut cream bar / popsicle, bigger and creamier that I definatly got from the Good Humor truck ! :)Bigger and creamier than ones I find similar now !!

Besides the Good Humor truck , we had a really cool Mom and Pop icecream parlor that served Breyers Icecream ( Breyers was originally a Philadelphia based brand icecream that at the time 60's, 70's WAS pretty much only in the Philly area ) , anyway , this place was sweet and cozy and served delicious / generous portions of icecream cones or scoops! ;)

Such a treat , Mom and Dad bringing us here a few times in the summer , but mainly it was the good ol' Good Humor truck on hot summer evenings !! :happyface

There was also a Carvel not too far from my house when I was growing up.
