Well, she DID somehow persuade George Raft (of all people) to finance her family home in Los Angeles in the 1930's. It's somewhat doubtful that he did so with only the expectation of her uttering the word 'thanks' and a chaste kiss on the forehead.

It says she turned the occasional trick during her lean years. Wow, I wouldn't have guessed that.
