Although the season-two episode "Julie Smokes" was not my favorite episode, there were some things that went on in it that I enjoyed. If anyone out there does not know what about the episode I especially liked, please send me a private message and I will let you know. In any event, when that episodes was made, there were oodles of series that preached the no-smoking gospel! It was all over the place. On top of this, there were a lot of organizations that would sponsor Public Service Announcements about the evils of smoking. Incidentally, this issue seems to be making a pretty big comeback. There are certain shows that I watch routinely and there are often announcements about this issue during intermissions. A lot of them feature people who have gotten sick from smoking who volunteer their time to tell the world what their situation is like. Well, I recently got the latest issue of "Psoriasis Advance". This is a magazine that is published four times a year. On the front cover, there is smoke from a cigarette. There is a caption that reads "Smoking and Psoriasis". Seeing the front cover made me think of this episode. After I have gotten around to reading the issue, I will be happy to tell anyone interested what it was like. We might be able to have some very interesting conversation about how the way that smoking was presented in this magazine compares to the way that it was presented on "Gimme a Break!".
