I have to turn my TV up really loud just to hear what their saying, but on other channels the sound is alright. Is it like that for any of you? If it's TV Land having their volume down, I hope they turn it up for Diff'rent Strokes in two weeks. Theres a lot of episodes I want to record.

My tv's sound is alright, but unfortunately the cable has been off twice during the weekend for about 2 or 3 hours each day- so that irritated me. I hope the sound improves for you.

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

It's just your TV or cable company, TV Land's volume is fine on my TV.

This is what I don't get it's just TV Land that has low volume the rest of the channels are fine especially the Disney Channel they need to turn that channel down. N@N has ok volume I just thought it was TV Land having ther volume down. Oh well I have two weeks to fix it, I don't want bad sound on the DS marathon.

I don't know all the techno gabble of this thing here, but Lets Assume:

Your TV is fine

Your cable, sattelite dish is fine etc.

And you have the TV Volume set to normal to start. Right Normal Viewing http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Here is a neat fact from the World of Sound Engineering (no technical terms):

Have you noticed that Some channels do sound diff'rent than others on TV?

Some sound louder or blare out and others sound real soft, meaning you have to compensate by adjusting your TV volume up or down as you surf diff'rent channels.

For example Check out Fox Network when a news show like Hannity & Colmes is on or the Shopping channels where they sell baseball cards; they really blare out at you.

Also I have noticed that the sound when Cheers is on seems more softer (subdued?) than the other channels, meaning I have to turn the volume up from..Normal..just to hear it.

Why is it you have to adjust the volume on your TV constantly as you surf?

Apparently as Buddy Berkman on the Brady Bunch Johnny Bravo ep said to Greg I will say:

That the sound engineers do:

Electronic sleight of hand.

Its amazing really for the techs can manipulate the audio to sound louder or softer on certain channels. The FCC has limits as to how loud in decibals a program can broadcast, but anyway through technology, the volume can sound louder on some channels (or softer) even though you KNOW the volume of your TV set is normal. Without actually increasing the decibal level at broadcast!

And now that I confused the readers:

Try surfing the channels on Normal Volume and listen to how each channel sounds (louder? or softer?) and make a note of it. Interesting isn't it? Even more so than Greg "fitting the suit" which was Righteous to the Brady Grid and the Marrow that is the Bones!

But Greater Righteousness is in the Engineering Technology in the World of:

Sound.

Right 4:00 on the dubdown.

Cloris Leachman Fan--I've been having the exact same problem for the last few months with the volume on TV Land. It's the only channel that does this. It's irritating because I flip back and forth between NAN and TV Land, and I constantly have to adjust the volume. I have no idea why this happens.

Hi,

You might want to contact your cable or satilight provider if the volume is poor on one channel....Here's a dumb senerio but often overlooked thing. Make sure your cable box is turned up to full volume if you have a volume on the cable box and just use your TV volume for sound adjustments. If your box volume is set too low, you won't hear anything regardless of how loud your TV volume is set.

A lot of times it's a satilight problem and you should report it if it persists. Sometimes movies are often shown with low volumes. For example, my HBO volume is fine, but on 2 occasions, I was watching The Legend of Bagger Vance and you REALLY have to crank up the volume to hear what is going on in that movie (on HBO) I really have no explanation for that.

What is even weirder is when you turn to one station and then
without even touching the remote it changes channels on you!
