I've just been wondering how a spin-off about Granny would have been, entitled "Granny". It would be about Granny finally moving back to the Hills, taking her money and maybe opening up a doctors office in the mountains where she practices her "doctoring"... Pearl could guest star some, though maybe played by a different person... since Bea Benederett was passed away at that time.

Irene Ryan did a fabulous job with that character, warms my heart to this day.

But the thought of a dedicated spin-off makes me think of "Dirty Sally" from the Gunsmoke series. When the lead character is that eccentric, it really narrows the audience down.

I'm sure the show would have had a devoted following, I'm just not sure it would be large enough to satisfy the metrics.

I doubt either 'BH' or 'Granny' would have lasted long had Granny spun off for the Hills!

The parent show needed her fiesty, wacky, cantankerous input while . ..who'd have interacted with her back in the Hills. .. Pearl?

Her personality would have probably been toned down a bit or revamped if she is carrying the whole show... kinda like Mama was a bit different in Mama's Family than from Carol Burnet sketches.

I could see Granny easily evolving into a Grandma Walton type character... seems she was sorta more like that in the earlier B&W episodes of B.Hillbillies
