This is what Kami Cotler (Elizabeth) had as her Facebook status today.
"When I was a child, nothing was more exciting than a visit by my Dad's first cousins, AKA "the Cotler boys". The Cotler boys loved storytelling and music and learning. The middle Cotler boy, Steve, was the first person in his county to attend Harvard. He'd worked as a shoe salesman, telecom scientist, singer-songwriter, Apollo 1 computer programmer, Hollywood screenwriter, investment banker, and door-to-door egg man. When I was a teen, I'd drive to his house and listen to his stories while I played with his youngest child. She was the first human I watched grow from baby bump to little girl to adult. Aria became an illustrator, most recently collaborating with her sister, Steve's second eldest, on an illustrated version of Bridgerton (Steve's daughter, Julie, is the writer Julia Quinn). Both Steve and Aria were killed by a drunk driver last week. The entire family is shattered. Please hug the people you love. Drive carefully and never ever drive if you aren't 100% sober."
Anyone who would drive drunk is a total scumbag. My mom had nerve damage from being hit by an uninsured drunk driver a few decades ago. At least her injuries were not life threatening.
