Your team is going through hard times. That my lowly Tigers could recently win 2 out of 3 in Cleveland was a surprise to me.

It's amazing to see the pitching talent that has left Cleveland just in the past few years, to go on to other teams.

We tiger's fans were blessed for years with an owner who would "step up" with his checkbook to put a winning team on the field. When he died, his son ushered in a new era of "fiscal responsibility" that truly suxxors to the max.

It began with a mantra to "get younger and leaner", with the followthrough being to dump all the high payroll guys and call it a "rebuild".

There's still a lot of baseball to be played this season, things can change.

They seem determined to ruin the game with all these changes, anyway. 7 inning games during double headers, baserunners to start extra innings, etc...now I hear they want to implement 4 wildcard teams in each league, starting as early as next season.

The post season is gonna be more like a tournament than an actual championship.

I'll tell you what I think, the owners are trying to shift the game to be more about show business, and less about competition. That way there will be less emphasis on rostering top tier talent, and the cost of doing so.

They'd much rather bait fans in to attend with all the loopy promotions, like "bring a relative dressed like a zoo animal and get free popcorn" than actually paying free agents what they are worth, in orderto build dominant teams.

I guess they figure the fans will be happy so long as their sub .500 team has a shot at a wildcard every few years?

I wouldn't rule it out. With the rising influence of gambling, I wouldn't put anything past them.

I truly believe that they think that so long as every team gets a wildcard shot every 5 years or so, that will make everybody happy.

I agree the sport of baseball has been ruined with the 7 inning double header games, and even more ridiculous is the automatic runner on 2nd base when games go into extra innings. :crazy:

I currently follow the A's and that team is also going nowhere but down in the standings. The pitching staff is fairly decent but the offense is about the worst I've ever seen, the team batting average is only about .230 and no one on the team seems to have the consistent ability to hit for a good average and drive in runs. Their offense is a complete joke.

MLB definitely needs a salary cap. Player salaries are spiraling out of control. The Indians never try to resign a player when his original contract is up. They will let him go elsewhere, usually a large market team with plenty of money. I am glad they traded Trevor Bauer.

Aren't the Indians the ones with that irritating muron beating the drum ad nauseam during every home game? They deserve to be banished from the planet, just for that!!

The drummer is John Adams who has been beating his drum at nearly every Indians home gane since 1974. But I don't think he attended any games this season due to health issues. I suppose the woke culture will now want him and his drum banned from the ballpark

They might have to consider that. I understand there is a roller derby team in Parma that registered the Guardians name as their own a few years ago, and want either the baseball team to pay a licensing fee, or to stop using the Guardians name all together.

You see? THAT is one of the main problems with the PC cancel culture mindset. Once you yield to them in any way, they perceive it as weakness, and just keep trying to push you around.

That's why I only root for sports teams from San Francisco. They're all tweeners! ;)
