View Full Version : Bill Cosby Was Released From Prison: Conviction Overturned
Old School 06-30-2021, 02:48 PM Bill Cosby always maintained his innocence going as far as to not take part in a sexual assault rehabilitation program while in prison which affected his recent parole hearing in which he was denied parole. Now, will people start watching the Cosby Show again? Will classic tv stations that shied away from scheduling The Cosby Show schedule it in the future?

Bill Cosby was released from prison Wednesday after his conviction on sexual assault charges was overturned by Pennsylvania's highest court.
The 83-year-old Cosby walked out of the State Correctional Institution Phoenix in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Wednesday afternoon, officials told ABC News.
Cosby's publicist, Andrew Wyatt, told ABC News earlier Wednesday that he was going to pick Cosby up at the prison.
Cosby was sentenced in September 2018 to three to 10 years in state prison for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting former Temple University employee Andrea Constand in 2004. Cosby has served a little less than two years of his sentence.
Last year, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court agreed to hear two points in Cosby's appeal to overturn his 2018 sexual assault conviction.
In a ruling released Wednesday, the state Supreme Court concluded that Cosby's prosecution should never have occurred due to a deal the comedian cut with former Montgomery County prosecutor Bruce Castor, who agreed not to criminally prosecute Cosby if he agreed to give a deposition in a civil case brought against him by Constand.
"The discretion vested in our Commonwealth's prosecutors, however vast, does not mean that its exercise is free of the constraints of due process," the Pennsylvania Supreme Court justices wrote in their 79-page decision.
"When an unconditional charging decision is made publicly and with the intent to induce action and reliance by the defendant, and when the defendant does so to his detriment (and in some instances upon the advice of counsel), denying the defendant the benefit of that decision is an affront to fundamental fairness, particularly when it results in a criminal prosecution that was foregone for more than a decade," the justices wrote.
The decision went on to say Cosby was the victim of an unconstitutional "coercive bait-and-switch."
Believing he had immunity from criminal prosecution, Cosby testified during four days of depositions by Constand's attorneys, and the civil lawsuit was settled for more than $3 million in 2006.
Cosby cannot be retried on the criminal charges.

Yes, he is sickening in this case. Cosby's release from prison is disgusting, insulting, total injustice.
Old School must think it's okay to sexually assault women as long as you've had a hit TV show. Pitiful.

I used to be a huge fan of Cosby. My old posts will bear that out. I was even in denial after the first few accusers came forward, but 50 million Elvis fans can’t be wrong. Plus, his own testimony about quaaludes is pretty damning.

There is no doubt about it. He even admitted to drugging the women so he could have sex with him. So what the hell is Old School defending? He's defending an admitted serial rapist. Pathetic.

Bill Cosby never said that he gave Andrea Constand Quaaludes. That what he was in jail for. He was unjustly tried and convicted in that case.
Women lie in many instances especially when looking to try to cash in on a situation.
Bill has never said that he raped anyone, though...getting high and having sex is as American as rock 'n roll. Sex, drugs and rock 'n roll.
lWomen lie in many instances especially when looking to try to cash in on a situation. The previous president has many sexual assault allegations, too. Are those women lying, as well?
How about Jimmy Savile’s accusers? Are they lying “to cash in on a situation?”
Roman Polanski? Harvey Weinstein? Bryan Singer? R. Kelly? Kevin Spacey? Danny Masterson? Jerry Sandusky? Larry Nassar? Robert Anderson? Mike Tyson? Jared Fogle? Innumerable pastors and priests? Which of these men are actual rapists and which are victims of lying liars trying to cash in? And how do you decide?

That rape defending poster is constantly trashing a pig like Trump yet he defends a puke like Cosby. What a hypocrite.

Common sense. It is utterly mystifying how anyone can defend Bill Cosby a.k.a. ADMITTED sex offender.

FINALLY!!!! A terrible wrong is being righted- a miscarriage of justice is corrected!
icecream 06-30-2021, 04:59 PM No Bill Cosby shouldn't have been released, he needs to pay for what he did. However, there is nothing wrong with openly being a fan of his shows while disapproving of what he did off camera. That's why it is called acting. I unlike so many people can separate the actor from the characters they play. And The Cosby Show still paved the way for sitcoms to make a comeback in the 80s, without its success a lot of other shows would have failed as well. A somewhat similar case is Stephen Collins and 7th Heaven. I don't approve of what he did in his off camera life. But I will always be a fan of 7th Heaven and wish that news hadn't become public knowledge, if it hadn't 7th Heaven would still be popular in reruns today.
GentlemanJim 06-30-2021, 05:11 PM If I read the story right, Cosby is not being released due to his innocence, he's being released because the prosecutors made promises, on which they renegged, and violated Cosby's constitutional rights in the process. It's called "a miscarriage of justice"...his release...however contemptible, is appropriate
BigManMike 06-30-2021, 05:44 PM Hopefully this means more stations will start showing the Cosby Show again soon.

Yes, under the circumstances in which Bill Cosby was sent to prison he deserved to be released. The DA can't just renege on binding agreement particulars made under the Law.
Bill Cosby was released from jail after being railroaded into jail after an agreement was made by former Montgomery County prosecutor Bruce Castor, who agreed not to criminally prosecute Cosby if he agreed to give a deposition in a civil case brought against him by Constand.

Bill Cosby has always maintained his innocence throughout this entire situation.

If it was just one or two women who had accused Bill Cosby of rape, they might have an axe to grind like Timothy Hutton's lying scumbag of an accuser who he never met and made a defamation of character lawsuit against her. But at least a dozen women have accused Cosby of rape. No way are they all lying.

The fact is that the deal was made by the former DA in order to gain Cosby's testimony in the Civil matter. Cosby would have never testified in the Civil matter otherwise. Can't have it both ways. America is a Nation of Laws.
Also, all of those women that you are trying to mention were allegedly messing around with a married man in Bill Cosby (Camille Cosby), but they are somehow to be fully believed? Where are their collective morals really at?
As well as, Bill Cosby was never charged in any other alleged incident other than the Andrea Constand situation. Furthermore, Bill shouldn't have been charged as per the DA's agreement with his legal team.
You are clearly trying to group unproven allegations in which the statue of limitations has expired. Women were coming out of the woodwork seemingly looking for a potential payday. We don't know what was or wasn't true while the bandwagon of allegations against Bill Cosby was being magnified in the media. Media = Medium = Hypnotizing Minds.

Where are their collective morals really at?Someone being raped is hardly messing around. The only reason he wasn't charged is because the statute of limitations had expired, doesn't make it any less rape. Rape victims often have a lot of shame thinking it is their own fault and are too embarrassed to come forward right away.
king of comedy 07-01-2021, 08:15 AM What's worse was his tv wife Phylisha Rashad was so happy he was released. She is still smug like the character she played.

All of those alleged women knew that Bill Cosby was married with children but didn't give one damn about Camille Cosby nor his current marriage situation.
How do you know for certain that any of the alleged women were in fact raped by Bill Cosby? Have there been any type of certified particulars presented to that fact in a court of Law? Is it beyond questioning their motives to come out seemingly all at once in the media? Are their stories above reproach?
Many of those women that claimed they were raped by Bill Cosby thought that he was going to help them become a star in Hollywood could have became bitter when they were just used for sex with no career benefits.
Some of those women as per their own words went back to see Bill Cosby after the alleged allegations for more sex and were in long term mistress relationships with Cosby.
It all seems too convenient and scripted to me especially when Gloria Allred got involved. She was trying to shake down Bill Cosby in the media.
