TVLegend 06-16-2021, 08:37 PM Not that fond of Monk. Not to mention that it’s not that much classic. At least there are more changes this season.
MikeLutton 06-16-2021, 09:11 PM what show is the monk replacing
stevea 06-16-2021, 09:18 PM It appears they dumped an hour of Gilligan's Island and the Sunday showing of MASH.
Charley Knox 06-16-2021, 09:26 PM This is what happens when you complain about the schedule and lack of changes.
MikeLutton 06-16-2021, 09:26 PM that what they schould do drop mash
Svenfan1234 06-16-2021, 10:06 PM I like Monk and all but it seems like it's too new for MeTV.
AMackII 06-16-2021, 11:24 PM MeTV is the wrong channel for Monk, It never should’ve aired on here though.

There are an endless list of classic television shows that could be shown on MeTV but Monk from 2002? MeTV done lost its direction...it sold the f**k out.

BigManMike 06-17-2021, 07:00 AM Same crummy weekday schedule as always. And Monk seems too new for MeTV.
howilu 06-17-2021, 09:36 AM I don't object to METV moving The Honeymooners to 11 PM CT. At least it will be out of competition with the last show on ABC's game show lineup To Tell the Truth and in the fall Sunday Night Football.
It looks like our affiliates won't be showing The Best Of The Ed Sullivan Show anymore because that's when the local news and a local program is on.
SarahBellum 06-17-2021, 12:49 PM Zzzzz.
TVLegend 06-17-2021, 01:22 PM Are they waiting for M*A*S*H, The Andy Griffith Show, Hogan’s Heroes, and Perry Mason to be on for 20 years so they can celebrate the anniversary? That ratings crap is bullsh*t. Just because it gets decent ratings, doesn’t mean you have to be lazy about it. Experiment, get some new shows, get some variety. MeTV is too scared of a little change. You can’t be scared of it if you’ve never tried. Viewers who watch M*A*S*H, The Andy Griffith Show, Hogan’s Heroes, and Perry Mason weeknights continuously for years are probably the same demographic who watch TV Land 24/7.
SarahBellum 06-17-2021, 04:07 PM I love Andy Griffith, but those episodes of seasons 1-5 have aired so many times I have all the lines memorized. Good grief. Can't they give Andy Griffith, MASH, etc. a rest for the summer months when ratings are not as important?
space1999 06-17-2021, 06:38 PM At first glance I thought it was The Monkees joining the lineup. Monk is wayyy too "new" to be on MeTV. I know it's almost 20 years for this show but man the library of actual vintage/retro tv shows that MeTV could be airing is being wasted. H&I and Decades along with MeTV could easily use more oldies.
I guess pairing Columbo with Monk was the idea behind it all. But I'm worried this might be the start of MeTV slowing just airing all shows from 2000s - onward. At least they slashed one hour of that redundant Gilligan's Island marathon. But that weekday schedule remains untouched as usual. I wish MeTV plus was available nationwide, that channel is awesome compared to this.

The Monkees would fit the Sunday afternoon lineup better than Monk on Me-TV since The Monkees is from the time period of shows that Me-TV airs anyway (1950s, 60s, 70s) And I'm with you. I hope that Me-TV doesn't use this as a way of pushing more 2000s shows on their network. But if we're lucky, Monk won't last long on Me-TV and be sent back to H&I.
jehobden 06-17-2021, 11:24 PM Same crummy weekday schedule as always. And Monk seems too new for MeTV.
Yes, I think MONK is a better fit for MeTV's sister channel, Heroes & Icons (H&I). It wasn't even a broadcast network show.
merlinjones 06-18-2021, 02:09 AM Wrong show for MeTV - bad precedent could lead down the TVLand path.
SarahBellum 06-18-2021, 11:30 AM I wish they would bring back the block of sitcoms they used to air on Sunday night a few years ago, but at an earlier time, not in the wee hours.
Duster76 06-18-2021, 03:22 PM Monk is an odd choice for METV. I certainly get the Columbo connection, but METV tends to go with big shows that had big audiences. Monk really doesn't fit that criteria. Monk was a successful series but it's audience was relatively small compared to the other shows on the network. In its time it was considered a comedy series with dramatic elements, which is the reverse of Columbo, a dramatic series with comedic elements. I think the character gets tiresome after awhile, back to back episodes seems like way too much of not such a good thing.
Adamantium 06-19-2021, 01:03 PM Monk is one of my all-time favorite television series. However, I own all 8 seasons on DVD, not to mention can watch it on Peacock or Prime Video. So, while I think it's a great show, I don't watch "television" anymore. I stick to DVDs or streaming. Why watch something heavily edited for time and stuffed with a bunch of commercials? That's so two decades ago. ;)
But for anyone who hasn't seen the show, here's your chance to check it out.

MeTV has announced its summer 2021 schedule. There are minor changes to the lineup, with the majority of them happening on Sundays. MeTV will air the Tony Shalhoub series Monk in primetime on Sundays at 8pm and 9pm beginning Sunday, July 18. The series will join the lineup following fellow detective Columbo from 6-8pm to form a detective block. The Gilligan's Island Three-Hour Tour is being cut to a two-hour instead from 2-4pm instead of 2-5pm, as Mama's Family will now move to the earlier 4pm hour. So the only show off the lineup on Sundays is M*A*S*H, but that series still airs weeknights. The Love Boat will now move up to Sundays at 5pm. Back to primetime, The Best of the Ed Sullivan Show and Carol Burnett and Friends will now air in the 10pm hour following Monk. And the final Sunday change is The Honeymooners taking one of the The Twilight Zone half-hours at 12am. The only change to the weekday lineup will be The Carol Burnett Show being swapped out for Carol Burnett & Friends instead at 11pm.
favoriteshow 06-22-2021, 10:46 PM I question the Sunday evening Monk scheduling of programming as well.
MeTV should have added Donna Reed Show in its Sunday primetime from its sister station Decades, and Weigel could have bought ad time and outdoor billboard space in Chicago and other large markets, and platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Basically, choose a classic series to showcase, but something likely not well known, and market it to a new generation of potential viewers, including millenials and zoomers.

I recalled listening to a podcast from MeTV's Vice president basically saying the future of MeTV was picking out a show that can "bridge" generations old and new together for the channel. To me that was the moves they made with the cartoons and now Monk. Its starting to give me TVLand vibes.

Before you know it, they’ll be originals in primetime every night, off-the-clock programming, 90s, 00s, and 10s, shows coming in, and M*A*S*H, The Andy Griffith Show, and Hogan’s Heroes will still be on the schedule.
TVLegend 06-25-2021, 08:41 PM Other MeTV programming news:
To kick in the 4th Of July, MeTV has announced their 4th Of July plans. For the whole 4th Of July week, from Sunday to Saturday, MeTV will air marathons of timeless, classic, fan favorite westerns, all of which can be found on the MeTV schedule. Sunday, it’s a 24 hour marathon of Gunsmoke, Monday, it’s a 24 hour marathon of Bonanza, Tuesday, it’s a 24 hour marathon of The Big Valley, Wednesday, it’s a 24 hour marathon of The Rifleman, Thursday, it’s a 24 hour marathon of Wagon Train, Friday, it’s a 24 hour marathon of Rawhide, and Saturday it’s a 24 hour marathon of Wanted: Dead Or Alive. And no need to worry, the marathons will be presented in the best way possible: off-the-clock programming, credit crunch, and commercial breaks every two to five minutes, with loads and loads of commercials, just for the devoted couch potato demographic. Also, MeTV has announced more schedule changes for the Summer Of Me. Effective July 26, on weekdays, two additional hours of Hogan’s Heroes replace morning shows like Toon In With Me and Leave It To Beaver weekday mornings, but no need to worry, Toon In With Me will now air on Saturdays as a five hour block. Two additional hours of Gunsmoke replace shows like In The Heat Of The Night and The Waltons. Also, another hour of Bonanza replaces The Rifleman as The Rifleman gets bumped into the 4:00|3:00C hour and Wagon Train gets bumped into the 5:00|4:00C hour, replacing Adam-12. M*A*S*H now airs for two hours weeknights: the 6:00|5:00C hour, replacing The Addams Family and Happy Days, and the 7:00|6:00C hour, the spot it has held for a “mere” few years. And to end the weekday schedule, two additional hours of The Andy Griffith Show replace former overnight shows like Barnaby Jones, Highway Patrol, and Dragnet in the 4:00|3:00C and 5:00|4:00C hours. Saturdays remain unchanged, with the exception of reruns of the fan favorite MeTV original, Collector’s Call replacing Sci-Fi-Saturday shows like Kolchak: The Night Stalker, Lost In Space, and Voyage The Bottom Of The Sea. On Sundays, the “iconic classic” show, Hot In Cleveland gets added, replacing the former Flintstones/Jetsons block. Gilligan’s Island has now expanded to five hours on Sundays, bumping off shows like Mama’s Family and The Love Boat. Also, another “classic” joins the schedule: 2000s “favorite”, Sex And The City will air Sunday nights, replacing shows like The Best Of The Ed Sullivan Show, The Carol Burnett Show, The Honeymooners, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Twilight Zone and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. Ain’t it great?
LOL.

M*A*S*H* fans will miss the show on Sunday nights on Metv starting Juy 18, 2021
I never thought Monk would end up there because it fits better on Heroes and Icons
I want the Monkees back on Sunday afternoon since I can't stand Mama's Family
and Love the Boat they cut Gilligans Island an hour why did they do that?

I would rather they keep MASH on Sunday nights put the Monkees back on at 5Pm
Keep Gilligan on for three hours Monk should have stayed on Start TV or Heroes and Icons at 6Pmwhy not Love American Style then MASH and I loveLucy, the honeymooners then Perry Mason or Matlock then Ed Sullivan and Carol Burnett and
Friends the rest stays the same. Quote: learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.
merlinjones 07-08-2021, 07:49 PM I don't see how Monk bridges generations of classic TV??? Who is asking for it? Was it ever a big hit?
Just say ''no'' to TVLand!
Merry24 07-08-2021, 10:02 PM I would like to see Me TV National do something similar as (Antenna TV) & Rewind TV do like..
Me TV Early Year Cartoons & Variety Shows & Sitcoms from 50’s & 60’s & Early 70’s.
Me TV plus A mix of cartoons & Dramas & Suspense & Sci-Fi & Sitcoms Mid/Late 70’s & 80’s & 90’s.
Decades Early years Westerns Sci-Fi programming
Heroes & Icons Early years Dramas & Suspense/Action

Start TV is a channel for women, so Monk wouldn't be a good fit.

Metv always seems to target SUNDAY afternoon for an changes but I am dis:talk::talk:Powers of Matthew Starr (remember they took ALF off for that)

You are right Monk is a better fit on Heroes and Icons and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries and not Start Tv There are detective series that they currently have
or add another 70's cop show.

I think they could have exchanged something for another on COZI
like Quincy M.E., Emergency, Murder She Wrote

Bonniegirl 07-22-2021, 06:41 PM Yeah, Gilligan's Island is no longer a 3 hour tour just a two hour tour ! :DI like Columbo at 6 , I enjoyed watching last Sunday ! ;)
And Monk doesn't fit at all! Way too new ! It's really weird that METV even picked it up !

Quincy and Emergency use to air on MeTV but they lost the broadcasting rights to CoziTV. It seems like MeTV favors the CBS shows over NBC Universal or at least its easier to get those archived shows than the latter.
They could have aired Barnaby Jones for 2 hours instead. Anything over Monk really.

Yeah, Barnaby Jones would work, that's an old show ! ;)

That is a trend started by that popular shopping channel anyway maybe
they could if they wanted to actually Hallmark channel shows original christmas movies in July.
