With cast options set to expire on Tuesday, NBC decided Monday night not to pick up the supernatural missing plane drama for Season 4. The decision comes despite Manifest performing strongly on Netflix in recent days as the No. 1 show. Manifest was the highest-rated of NBC's four bubble shows, which also included the now-canceled Debris and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, plus the still-in-limbo Good Girls. Deadline reports Good Girls is now "looking good" for renewal for Season 5. As Deadline's Nellie Andreeva points out, "Manifest was conceived by creator Jeff Rake and was sold to NBC with a six-season plan that has been mapped out. That plan — and fans’ three years of devoted following — will fall through unless another network/platform steps in to pick up the series following its cancellation by NBC. As is the case with all high-profile series, WBTV is expected to look for a new home. Netflix, where Manifest debuted last Thursday, immediately shooting up to #3 in the U.S. before taking over the top spot, could be a possibility but there have been no formal conversations yet, I hear." Manifest creator Jeff Rake tweeted (https://twitter.com/jeff_rake/status/1404674082675724288) of the cancelation: "I’m devastated by NBC’s decision to cancel us. That we’ve been shut down in the middle is a gut punch to say the least. Hoping to find a new home. You the fans deserve an ending to your story. Thanks for the love shown to me, cast, and crew. #savemanifest (https://deadline.com/2021/06/manifest-cast-response-cancelation-save-manifest-luna-blaise-parveen-kaur-1234775458/)."

That's a bummer. I want to see how it plays out, now we're left in limbo. If no other network picks it up maybe they could do a 2 hour special tying up the loose ends. It's been done before for a few tv shows.

I plan to see it on Netflix and see it from the beginning. I hope Netflix picks it up.

That would be great. They did it for Lucifer, maybe Manifest could get a season or two to finish it up.

Netflix is in talks to save Manifest as the canceled NBC drama tops its streaming charts (https://deadline.com/2021/06/manifest-season-4-netflix-move-canceled-nbc-new-home-1234777867)

The first two seasons of the missing plane drama, which NBC canceled earlier this week, premiered eight days ago on Netflix and quickly climbed to No. 1. "I hear conversations between lead Manifest studio Warner Bros. TV and Netflix are ongoing as the streamer is evaluating the viability and financials of a possible pickup," reports Deadline. "There have been just a couple of canceled broadcast series that have been rescued by Netflix so far, most notably Lucifer, which became a hit as a Netflix original following its cancellation by Fox after three seasons. In an encouraging sign for Manifest fans, Lucifer is also produced by WBTV, giving the studio and Netflix a working template for how to successfully move a three-year-old broadcast drama to the streamer. Lucifer is now headed into its sixth and final season."

Netflix has opted not to rescue the missing plane drama that debuted as the No. 1 show on its streaming platform less than two weeks ago. Netflix had been considered the most viable option for Manifest.

“Well, my bada** #manifesters, I’m sorry to say that it’s the end of the line for now,” Josh Dallas wrote on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/p/CQZ18n0ppkj/). “We are so very proud to have brought you this story over 3 seasons. We so wished we could’ve finished the journey with you. But it wasn’t in the cards.”

Jeff Rake hopes to give fans closure one way another after NBC canceled the mystery drama three seasons into his planned six-season run. TVLine reports that one "ideal" option is a two-hour wrap-up movie, but "finding a platform to offer that a home is a whole other ball of wax." “Your support is awe-inspiring,” Rake tweeted (https://twitter.com/jeff_rake/status/1409185846176075779) Sunday. “We’re trying to find a way to conclude the series. Could take a week, a month, a year. But we’re not giving up. You deserve an end to the story. Keep the conversation alive. If it works out, it’s because of YOU.”
