What at first glance looks a rather slight confection about a pretty con-woman ripping off rich male saps quickly becomes a lot more interesting – not to mention surprisingly dark and funny.
Giddy newlyweds Ava and Ezra (Inbar Lavi and Rob Heaps) are not what they seem. His uxoriousness is real, but she is actually a conwoman named Maddie who is about to take him for everything he's got and then some – second mortgage, the whole bit – leaving behind a kind of blackmail bomb that will destroy his family if he comes after her or calls the police.
Sounds like she has done this before, right? Right.
Turns out she is part of a three-person team, and her co-conspirators (Brian Benben and Katherine LaNasa) ensure that their victims are figuratively trussed up like Thanksgiving turkeys.
Leaving the heartbroken Ezra to watch YouTube videos about how to fashion a noose from an electrical extension cord, the three of them move on to Seattle and their next mark, foul-tempered bank boss Gary (Aaron Douglas).
