Did anybody who watched this show expect Benson and Kraus to become a couple? They have great chemistry but are also terribly insulting to each other up to and including season 5.

It most definitely was a love/hate relationship, though I don't think they would have worked as a couple. Even up through the end of the show, they still had their zingers and such, so that never totally went away.

They are funny together, they frustrate each other...but after a while the insults became a bit much, especially because they do become friends who try to help each other and root for each other.

No I never expected them to become a couple. And like others have said I don't think they would've worked as a couple. What surprised me and I think is funny is that Inga Swenson who played Gretchen Krause wasn't German but was totally American and her real speaking voice didn't sound like that at all! LOL. She really did do a convincing German accent.

To be honest, yes! I had seen in a couple of shows (they don't come to mind right now though) the worst of enemies at the start of a series become the best of friends and get married. So yeah...I could have seen Benson & Kraus get married

Benson and Kraus accidentally end up married, but the marriage was annulled before the end of the episode. Very funny episode… but there’s no way they’d make it as a couple.
