I am watching the episode, Polly Wants A Douglas.
I don't remember this episode at all and I am so hacked!

Just kidding!

I was looking up the bio on Ronne Troup, and it says that she was born in 1945, meaning that she was 25 in that episode, meaning that she was older than Gloria Stivik, but acting like such a brat! Wasn't she a bit too old for Chip anyways?

In a previous thread I told about spotting Polly in a b/w show sitting in Rob's classroom at school epis. #4-10 "The Ever-Popular Robbie Douglas" there she was POLLY!!!

I knew I had seen Polly in a b/w epis. before and here it was! There was Polly sitting in the front row of Robbie's classroom looking quite fetching at that. She wasn't the sad sack trodden down girl that she turned herself into in the later color episodes, here she was looking happy with a big glowing smile on her mug and radiating good energy. So here was a Positive Perky Polly and looking all the better for it. I wouldn't call her later transformation in the color years being a brat though, needy, manipulative, clingy, yes, a brat no. Besides a guy likes a girl that's a little clingy. I do prefer the more Perky Polly though.:wave:

Seeing newly married Chip in Bed with Polly was darn right progressive (?) - or something

I remember reading just around the time of Polly and Chips marriage, Stanley was married to a gal name Sandy and short time later they had a daughter. Fred felt Stan was too young for marriage. Maybe Stan pushed a bit of the plots for Chip got married and it seemed the character was only a year out high school.

First of all Norman Alden is somewhat remarkable in the job he does portraying Tom Williams, very consistent and not becoming buffoonish. Doris Singleton as his wife Margaret has a very good scene in which she "diffuses" him by stating that she gave her written permission for the marriage.

I do agree at times the Polly character seems almost totally lacking in confidence or at the least, does not act like a young woman who has firmly decided to become married. I suppose her immaturity opened up story ideas that wouldn't have worked with Katie or Barbara, like when Polly has no sales resistance and buys unneeded stuff from door-to-door sales (Season 12) -- opening up a big dinner-hosting promotion.

Real-life ages did not mean much to the M3S writers & producers, for example when Katie marries Rob she's supposed to be perhaps 19 at most (from teen references), while in fact Tina Cole was in her mid-20s. All about the look. Remember too how Barry Livingston's Ernie character was in Chip's grade level when first introduced, but later was changed to be obviously younger.

So True - when Ernie showed up he was so not chips age ... and did I miss how they killed off (so to speak) Sudsy ? I thought Sudsy was decent in the show ...

Ricky Allen did return for a couple of color episodes ('67 & '69), but as different characters - not as Sudsy. I liked when John Williams' character in a b & w ep mistakenly called him "Foamy" -- lol

It's a shame they never had an ep where Sudsy visits California, or alternatively he could have appeared once again when Rob & Katie visited Bryant Park in Season 10. I also wanted to mention that Olive Dunbar as Sudsy's mom was quite hot in those years.

I am now in the 4th season episode "What's the Princess really like" Steve's old friend is now a princess. It is mentioned around this episode that Chip is age 10,Robbie 17 and Mike 21. It seems Chip has been 10 since the start of the show. Stan would have been 9/10 when the show began and his character as well. M+ R seemed to age but not Chip.
