(The Atlanta Hawks won the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, 4 games to 1, by beating the NY Knicks 103-89.)

(The girls are in the Kramden apartment.)

Alice: "I expect that our husbands will be home any minute. They will be so upset."

Trixie: "I know. Another team that had their season ended."

(The boys arrive. Crowd cheers.)

Alice: "What a bad game, huh boys?"

Ralph: "You can say that again. We are both upset that the Knicks played horribly."

Ed: "You should have heard Ralph at the game. He was cursing like a sailor."

Ralph: "Not only that, Garrity from upstairs saw us on the front stoop and rubbed in our faces that the Knicks lost."

Trixie: "At least you still got the Nets."

Ed: "Hey, it's time to keep your chin up Ralph. You got to smile. It's easy to smile when things are going good but now it's a challenge. Come on Ralph. Smile there. Show me those ivories. Give me that smile Ralph-ie boy."

(Ralph smiles.)

Ed: "Beautiful. Beautiful. Now, don't think of today. Think of happier times. Think of yesterday when we had the Knicks and Nets in the playoffs. Think of how now we only have the Nets in the playoffs and the chances of a New York team winning the NBA playoffs is slim but still there. Come on Ralph. You got to smile. Smile."

Ralph (yells): "GET OUT! GET OUT! GET OUT!"

(The Nortons leave.)

Ralph: "Alice, somewhere there is a straightjacket waiting for that man."

(Jackie walks on stage. Crowd cheers.)

Jackie: "Thank you. GOOD NIGHT!"

(Crowd cheers.)
