Monday marked the first day of Mayim Bialik's two week hosting stint on Jeopardy. I saw the episode and to me, she really had excellent command of the game. She was very personable in the interviews with the contestants and kept the show moving well.

To me, she should deserve strong consideration as Alex Trebek's permanent successor. Bialik is very bright with a degree in neuroscience and she seems really proficient in running a game show. Feel free to post your thoughts as Bialik continues her run on Jeopardy.

Mayim Bialik is such a natural at hosting, I would be fine with her being made permanent. She has moved ahead of Buzzy to my #2 choice right after Ken Jennings. It is a good thing her Jeopardy! voice is nothing like Amy Farrah Fowler, I wouldn't have wanted that full time.

I think she’s a good fit too—not only a good actress but a real brainiac to boot!

I liked Ken Jennings, but I'm guessing they will not select a white male as the permanent host.

I think Mayim Bialik did a fine job, that said, poster TMC posted this tidbit on 5/5 which gives us some idea what the thinking might be behind the scenes:

"Executive producer Mike Richards told The Wall Street Journal's The Journal podcast he would prefer the next Jeopardy! host to do the job full-time and not as a side gig. “I would prefer it is someone who is dedicated to the show, completely,” said Richards, while acknowledging the decision will be up to a larger group".

The question is this, would Mayim be willing to walk away from her acting career for fulltime hosting duties. I don't know, she might be, Alex was pulling in about 16 million as host so the money is there. She's the right age, has media experience and that's a big plus and there's the point Sarah Bellum made:

"I'm guessing they will not select a white male as the permanent host".

I always thought Ken Jennings had the best shot, but his lack of extensive media experience and being a white male may definitely work against him. Mayim could be there at the wire, from the first time I heard she was going to be a guess host I thought she had a very good chance to win the job.

Ranking Jeopardy!'s guest-hosts so far: Mayim Bialik is No. 3 (https://www.avclub.com/the-jeopardy-guest-hosts-ranked-worst-to-best-1847049741)

Ken Jennings is still the best of the nine guest-hosts so far, according to The A.V. Club, while Aaron Rodgers is No. 2.

I don't think Rodgers has any shot of becoming the host. Jeopardy is the star of Jeopardy, I think Mike Richards comments makes that clear. The host will be someone who can blend into the culture of the show. Rodgers is a handful, he gets a lot of publicity and not all of it is good. Why would the iconic show take an unnecessary risk. Jennings would be the safest bet at this point but Mayim is definitely in the mix, she did a great job, has a lot of media experience and it looks like she wants it. The media experience thing is going to be a big factor and that will work against Jennings. I think she has a real shot at it.

I’d like it very much to be Mayim but we shall see.
