Why are episodes in syndication truncated?
When I recorded the series, I recorded it on a combination of Cozi TV; CMT; TV Land.
However, those episodes are all missing scenes.
I can verify them by watching the episodes on the streaming site Daily Motion.
For each episode in the first season, and some in the 2nd season, I identified which scenes were missing.
I even checked Peacock TV. That's a little better, but even that has at least one missing or truncated scene per episode.
For example, in the pilot, they cut out the scene where D.J. eats the pie, and Roseanne catches him. (After the scene where Roseanne met with the history teacher).
This is verified both by the transcript here:

And from the episode on Daily Motion.
In another example, in the season 2 episode "Boo!", the scene with Jackie making the caramel is condensed. On syndication, or on Peacock TV, it cuts right to Becky walking in, and omits the exchange between Roseanne and Jackie while Jackie is stirring the caramel.
Again, this is shown on the Daily Motion stream.
So, once I figured out that the episodes I recorded were missing scenes, I ended up watching them from Daily Motion instead, so I wouldn't miss anything.
Cozi TV, CMT, and TV Land were worse than Peacock TV. They would usually have 2 - 3 scenes per episode that were missing or condensed.
