You know, it's hard to believe that Dabney Coleman is still alive and cool but what people don't realize was that Dabney made a sitcom comeback with Madman Of The People that aired on NBC in 1994. The show centered on a journalist who worked for a newspaper hoping to scout interesting gossip. Madman Of The People also starred Cynthia Gibb who is best known for Short Circuit 2 and Gypsy with Bette Midler who played the wife of Dabney's character. Madman Of The People only lasted one season but had NBC not cancelled it so soon Dabney Coleman would've been even more popular

From what I heard Madman of the People was the most pushed new comedy by NBC that season getting a cushy slot between Seinfeld and ER. But it underperformed and Friends was an unexpected hit instead. Dabney Coleman was good in 9 to 5 but had a series of TV flops that couldn't match that movie's success.
