Well im assuming you made this post in reguards to the police beating in california. i think it depends on what the situation is and how its handled. if the suspect refuses and starts acting violent, give the guy a pop or 2 in the face. but police shouldnt beat a suspect for no reason. what i find funny about law enforcement in america is, a suspect can be convicted and still be up for bail, if a police does one thing wrong he gets suspended or fired.

I don't think it's any of those. I think they do it in self defense...

In regard to the most recent incident in California that's getting a lot of media attention, I intend to reserve judgement until all of the evidence has been presented. I do not like the fact that the officer slammed the suspect down onto the hood of the car, and punched him while he was handcuffed. I find that very disturbing. However, we've only seen about a 10 second clip of the entire incident. If you notice, the officer is bleeding. How did that happen? What else took place prior to what we saw on television? How violent was the suspect before they were able to handcuff him? There is supposedly another video from the gas station's security camera that captures the entire incident on film. If this officer did indeed use excessive and unnecessary force against the suspect, then he should pay the appropriate penalty. Let's hear all sides of the story first before passing judgement. Believe it or not, the concept of "innocent until proven guilty" also applies to police officers.

Let's face it - there are some police officers who have no business being on the force. They, thankfully, represent a small percentage of law enforcement professionals in this country. It's most unfortunate that it took an event like September 11th to illustrate the bravery of the vast majority of Police Officers in this country, and how valuable they are to the community.

I think it is a combination of several tihngs really:stress of the
job,frustration because no matter how they work it still seems
a lot of the people that deserve to be behind bars end up getting
free on technicalities or else are loosed early from jail,the way that the media always seems to make the police the bad guys
when something like this happens,etc.

As far as the latest incident goes,it like the Rodney King tape
shows only a very few seconds of what actually happened.I
think the press maybe playing it out too much and as a result if
it goes to court for trial there will be too much feeling against the
police officers involved so that a fair trial maybe totally impossible.

btw:I believe the outcome of the first Rodney King trial was the
result of the defense showing the tape frame by frame including
what WASN'T shown on the news,so who know with this new
incident what HASN'T been shown maybe even more important
than what HAS.
