"You know, it was just right there waiting to come out from within me," Goldsberry tells Vulture. "I think, and maybe I’m not alone in this, I’ve spent a lifetime of suppressing all of those urges and tendencies just so that people will like me. I think Wickie gave me an excuse to let it all out. It was not in any way hard to work for attention, sing a little louder, and sing a little more obnoxious to get somebody to look at me. Or to try to wear the biggest and most ostentatious clothes, anything to get noticed. I don’t know if that’s something behind everybody who comes up in this career, but I’ve been swallowing those urges for such a long time. I didn’t know how desperately I needed it. The greatest calling card for Wickie is how she develops in the first episode. You get to see the façade and the lie, and then you get to see 100 percent transparency and vulnerability. I remember reading the scripts and having a very clear aha moment by the time I finished reading the scene where she’s in the hotel room with Dawn. I think we can all relate to someone who feels like life owes them something and is aware of how impossible it is to correct mistakes that they’ve made. No matter how ridiculous Wickie is, there’s something we can hold onto. I liked her a lot on The Good Wife.

The spinoff, The Good Fight, should hire her back for at least 2-3 episodes, for her role, as Geneva Pine, along with Anika Noni Rose, for her role as Wendy Scott-Carr. And Martha Plimpton for her role as Patti Nyholm. And of course Alan Cumming (Eli Gold) and Parker Posey (Vanessa Gold).

I tried watching Girls5Eva and it was a little too silly but not interesting enough for me to continue past the third episode. Maybe I'll give it another try. I still preferred Goldsberry in a drama role.

Girls5eva's Renée Elise Goldsberry is content with having her breakout TV success at age 50 (https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/24/arts/television/girls5eva-renee-goldsberry-tina-fey.html)

"I would 100% be lying to you that I was 35 years old right now if the f***ing internet did not tell every motherf***er my age (https://twitter.com/ASoloski/status/1396986689520799746)," Goldsberry, who turned 50 in January, tells The New York Times' Alexis Soloski. Goldsberry had her first breakout success in Hamilton at age 44. But she's won praise playing Wickie, “the fierce one,” on the Peacock girl group comedy from Tina Fey. “I feel like God has a bit of a sense of humor with me,” she says. “There’s something beautiful about things happening in a different way than we expected, later than we thought.”
