It seems like the writers of The Simpsons like to keep us viewers wondering which state the series is set in. They contradict themselves intentionaly. I noticed that when the Behind The Laughter episode aired for the first time that they said that it was Kentucky but then when Fox reran that same episode they said it was Missouri. I think that they should reveal where this Springfield is really located in the final episode.

I don't think Springfield is supposed to be in any particular state. I think it's just AnyTown, USA.

the writers try not to give away the state,ie. superbowl episode marge and lisa find no little feet in the egg decor. box.On the phone Marge says "springfield,ohia..mod *mod flanders walks in*"
