View Full Version : Something I wonder about Ann B Davis's identical twin
TheLittleFaerie 05-09-2021, 04:26 AM Just something funny I was wondering... if for one episode Ann B. Davis's identical twin Harriet put on the Alice costume and came in as Alice for an episode.... I wonder if she would look indistinguishable from Ann? Would the audience detect the difference? Many times twins look VERY VERY similar but you can just tell something is different..... If Harriett were to play Alice for an episode, I wonder if the audience would be able to tell SOMETHING was "off"?
BestTVever 05-09-2021, 06:29 AM I think she could have played Sgt Emma.
Tankeryanker 05-09-2021, 09:35 PM Never knew she had a twin. Cool beans.

Yes I found it out not long ago... But she wasn't an actress... I'd love to see her dressed as Alice and see if we could tell she's a different person
Dude111 05-11-2021, 04:30 PM I think she could have played Sgt Emma. She did didnt she??

Really? I thought it was that mirrored acting/shooting they sometimes do.

It was, Ann played both parts.
MRPITT 05-11-2021, 04:56 PM I think Ann was Sgt Emma. Her sister Harriet did appear in a 1950’s game show I’ve Got A Secret pretending to be Ann.

Yes, you can see the trick photography, and showing each in one shot only. When Ann was the sarge she had her hair combed differently. Funny approx. quote:
Emma, to Carol: Have you read the army manual on (something or other)?
Carol: No
Emma: You should. It's a real eye-opener.
TheLittleFaerie 05-11-2021, 11:45 PM I just read it was Ann playing both parts. I THINK they considered getting Harriett to play the role, but Harriett didn't want to, as she had no acting training.
But I'd just like to see Harriett dressed as Alice
Dude111 05-11-2021, 11:51 PM Thank you guys :)
smittykins 05-17-2021, 08:19 PM I recently watched a video with an interview with Miss Davis where she said that she and her twin sister were delivered by a female doctor, which was unusual for that time(they were born in 1926, the same year as my grandmother), which led her to briefly study premed in college, until she realized she wasn’t smart enough for that and switched to speech and drama.

Here is a photo. Who here can tell which one is which?

I'm guessing the one on the left is "Alice"

I think so, too, based on her slightly more rounded eyes and more rounded face. But Harriet would have been a great double in Brady Bunch scenes.
I remember Nicholas Brendon's twin brother Kelly appeared as "Xander" in two episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and no-one knew which twin was which. Even after seeing the episodes many times, I just can't tell who is playing the part.

Agreed.
