View Full Version : Michael Jackson's recent actions/comments
joan davis fan 07-11-2002, 11:43 AM On vacation til yesterday in Nags Head,NC watching tv out of Virginia Beach they brought up a story about Michael Jackson is so mad at the recent poor showing of his latest CD, Jackson is blaming SONY ( his record company ) for being racist as to the reason why his cd didnt sell as well as his previous efforts.
The newsanchor on tv there said that Jackson is suffering from lack of good product and his "weird-ness" is making people to stop liking him as well as a change of taste in music ( same reason why Hall & Oates, Olivia-Newton John, Foreginer, Styx, dont get played very much on radio now-a-days ) . In other words Jackson is passing the buck for the failure of his latest cd.
First up, I have always enjoyed the music of Micheal Jackson. True he does have tons of money and can do whatever he wants though some of the things he has done in the last 10 years I can see why many folks dont want nothing to do with him. Some of the things I dont understand, like the child molestation thing. Guilty or not everyone has an opinion of course but to this day I cant figure out why in the world if Jackson considered himself "not guilty" why did he make a deal with the child who accused him in the first place? I have heard because Jackson wanted his life to go on and put an end to it but if I was in his shoes ( I remember Elton John saying the same thing ) if someone came up and told the press that I was a pervert, rich or not I would fight it-not give the person who acused me money to keep quite. And Jackson said what he did wasnt an admission of guilt-though this happened years ago still to this day cant figure that one out.
Then he marries Lisa Marie Presley. I do wonder if his marriage and the child thing were connected? I was in Cleveland a few years back attending their Elvis exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and many there felt that Jackson married Lisa Marie only to kill the rumors about this and that they thought there was little if any love between them.
Between him looking so bad ( thanks to his cosmetic operations ) on the recent Bandastand special and according to the radio he still wears his face mask and hangs around children, I can see people wanting to stay away from Michael Jackson.
Swimfan85 07-11-2002, 11:47 AM I am personally a fan of his 80's stuff and most pre-Thriller stuff and Thriller, I think in a way it is sorta of a curse to have so much money and talent...I remember hearing stuff between him and JTT when I was in like 3rd grade...crazyiness..I am scared of his image now, but I still think that he has a hell of a lot of talent and blaming sony about his failed cd...I dont think thats right
Mossopp 07-11-2002, 01:34 PM I don't understand Michael Jackson either.
What bugs me the most about him is that he is so concerned with race and fighting racism. Excuse me Michael - didn't you spend millions of dollars on changing the colour of your own skin????!! That's messed-up so how this guy can be in any position to comment on race is beyond me!
He scares me anyway - and it's not just the fact that he looks like some genetic experiment gone wrong. It's a lot of the things he's said and done that just don't sit right with me......
JethroSimpson 07-11-2002, 02:18 PM I agree, I saw that story and he looks like some kind of ghost with the colour of his skin, he is insulting poeple of his own race by doing that.
And I thought he was using the whole thing as an exscuse for the fact that his new album sales were bad.
I was flipping through the channels on TV, and it passed by on Fox News Network and they were talking about this on The O'Reilly Factor. The guy said "How oculd a black man turn into a white man with hair like Elizabeth Taylor?!?!?!"
I fell on the floor  ing!!!!!!!!!!!! Hilairous hilarious hilarious.
And that thing about him and JTT..........wow............little Randy and Micheal Jackson!?!?!?!??!?! woah
Mr. Stefani 07-11-2002, 05:09 PM Just b/c he is too lazy to do promotion for his album, doesn't mean he has to blame sony:rolleyes:...
But a few ignorant comments really pissed me off:
He didn't change the color of his skin b/c he felt like it..He has vertigo. Its a diease that makes parts of your body blotch diffrent colors. Thats why he slowly went to the color skin he has now. The only thing he has admitted to changing about himself that he wanted to was his nose(several times), as did his sister Janet....byt she looks human
But I do agree..He looks really scary, esp his lack of nose.

What the hell are you talking about?
Vertigo is the fear of heights - it does not affect the colour of your skin.
I dunno who told you that but they were having a right laugh!

I think timmy087 is right but he has hte name of the disease mixed up. There's a disease that I believe usually happens to African Americans where their skin starts bloching and turns a little white. Michael Jackson either has that or he's a physcho :D
The Blame game...
A lot of these great recording artists are doing this nowadays.
When your latest record fails to sell a bazillion copies like your earlier albums (in Michael's case 2 million - compared to the thirty million Thriller sold!) blame the record company for ruining your carreer!
Jackson refuses to believe that maybe he isn't the "King Of Pop" anymore, that his fans have moved on, or have gotten tired of his spooky antics.
Personally, I don't see why his popularity has slipped.
What teenager wouldn't love to watch a forty-year old man with bleached skin and a surgical mask grab his crotch and moonwalk about the stage?
;)
DarleneIllyria 07-11-2002, 08:27 PM *sigh* I'm personally sick and tired of the celebs always putting the blame on other stuff. When Nick Carter got arrested, he said people were after him because of his fame. That's a crock of bs to me and a cop out too.
You gotta admit, time has just passed. Michael was the King of Pop back in the 80's, but as time passes- you always get people replacing the past 'It' thing. I can only think of a few artists that are still 'It' now as they were in the past. The main ones I'm thinking of is Elvis and The Beatles.
Maybe Michael is just trying to rack up some publicity, though I admit biting the hand that feeds you isn't really the best thing to do.......

PUH-LEEZE!
In this day and age with Eminem, Linkin Park, Puff Daddy, N' Sync, Miss Spears, Train, POD, ect... who needs Michael Jackson?
The King of Pop is a victim of father time. Heck even our local top 40 radio station here wont play Aerosmith because they think they are well..too old. And they consider Michael Jackson in the same boat.
Joan Davis Fan did bring up a good point about music you dont hear on radio that much anymore. I myself remember back in the 80s one could hear Billy Joel, George Michael, Prince, Hall & Oates,
Starship, ZZ Top, and a whole bunch more on any top 40 radio station. Doubt you will hear any of them today on your local top 40 station unless they do an oldies hour or something.
Maybe Cher and Madonna though Cher is on her last tour right now and Madonna while "Music" did well, wasnt nearly as big as when she did "Like A Virgin".
Also Michael Jackson has the other problem with people assuming his fondness for boys. True he never did go to court over this so one cant say if he was guilty or not but I too find it very strange that here is man with millions of dollars, yet he pays off this boy to keep his mouth shut and yet still says he didnt do it ) then why pay off the child in the first place?. I remember reading that in People.
I remember when Carol Burrent sued the National Enquier when they call her a "drunk" and won. If Jackson was telling the truth , why didnt he sue the boy and his parents for defamation of character?
Being accused of a sick crime like that is a lot worse than being called a drunk.
DJM77 07-11-2002, 09:14 PM Michael Jackson needs a reality check. Every music stars popularity fades sooner or later. So his records don't sell like they used too...boohoo! All of the kids who bought his records in the 80's are grown now. They have moved on. Kids make up a huge percentage of the amount of records sold and the kids today think of Michael Jackson as a freak. As far as the race thing goes, the majority of hip hop artists are black and hip hop probably sells more records today than any other genre. There goes your argument, Michael.
Hollow 07-11-2002, 09:53 PM He looks like an ugly girl that shaves.
Mr. Stefani 07-12-2002, 01:57 AM Sorry. I got the name mixed up..i always get the word confused. :o
The guy sold 5 million albums of his latest. To any other artist that is amazing..but its just not good enough for him.

LOL! agreed, he looks horrible. and what the hell is nose surgery? i think i remember seeing him on the news and his nose looked like a reindeer nose. I Thought he looked best while looking white was around his 'Black and White' music video time. and i think 5 million albums is PLENTY! if i sold just 100 id be satisfyed.

julian bozo 07-12-2002, 06:41 PM I really don't think Michael Jackson has really made any
good songs since the 80's. I think Janet has though.

The disease is called Vitiligo, in case anyone was wondering.
It's kinda sad that Michael Jackson can't seem to accept that he way past his prime.
Carmen_Epstein 08-15-2002, 01:06 PM I liked Michael Jackson right up to his "Thriller" days. I have that album. After that, he just started getting weirder and weirder. Anybody remember the video for the song "Leave me Alone"? There is a part where he's dancing on a stage with the bones of "The Elephant Man" That was very disturbing.

That's true, the King of Pop is going downhill and he can't accept it. So, he puts the blame on Sony.
Maybe the reason he's always around kids is he thinks that way he can "stay young forever," who knows.
About the child molestation accusation, one doesn't have to have a degree in law to know that his paying the kid to keep quiet was an admission of guilt.
