merlinjones 05-08-2021, 07:15 AM Without a doubt: Donna Reed as Donna Stone
1960'sTVfan 05-08-2021, 09:41 AM There have been many great TV moms over the years but if asked to choose a favorite I guess I would say Barbara Billingsley as June Cleaver.
dakert 05-08-2021, 09:53 AM Doris Day (Doris Martin) The Doris Day Show
merlinjones 05-08-2021, 10:48 AM ...Doris (Day) Martin? Such a good Mom she left her kids behind on the farm and moved to San Francisco to become a career girl, then forgot about them altogether. (That always bothered me back when I was a kid and the show was on network). See also Lucy Carmichael.
Bonniegirl 05-08-2021, 01:13 PM Carol Brady,June Cleaver

I couldn't watch The Lucy Show after Chris and Jerry were "disappeared". "Where are your children, woman?!" I yelled at the TV. It was... creepy.

SledgeBarone 05-10-2021, 01:24 PM Patricia Heaton played a mom on Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle, 2 of the 9 sitcoms in American sitcom history with over 200 episodes, so she ought to be the winner.

Olivia Walton

merlinjones 05-10-2021, 02:47 PM Donna Reed is not getting enough love here.
It's interesting that the top 3 names on the list - Marion Ross, Shirley Jones, and Florence Henderson - representing 3 of my top 10 favorite series and 3 of my top picks for best TV Moms, were all good friends in real life. I believe they all worked for a common charity project long after their TV careers ended but I can't remember what it was for. They also got together for a funny "Got Milk" ad:

My other picks for best TV Moms:
1. June Cleaver
2. Marion Cunningham
3. Shirley Partridge
4. Harriet Nelson
5. Donna Stone
6. Margaret Anderson {"Father Knows Best')
7. Carol Brady
8. Samantha Stevens
9. Clair Huxtable
10. Kate Bradley ("Petticoat Junction")
Here are a few others you might want to add:

Don't they all still look good? From left to right, they are: Shirley Jones from "The Partridge Family", Beverly Garland from "My Three Sons", Barbara Billingsley from "Leave it to Beaver", Marion Ross from "Happy Days", Betty Buckley from "Eight is Enough", and June Lockhart from "Lassie" and "Lost in Space".
