I enjoy the later years with the husbands. Does anyone else feel the same way?

No. I definitely prefer the sisterly early years over the Alex the Substitute years.

Me too. Barbara is my favorite and I like the show focusing on her. And I also like Alex, Francine, grandma, and the husbands.

I prefer seasons 1 thru 4. From season 5 and forward it's still a decent enough show but not as good as it was during the earlier seasons.

I like the later seasons better too, I think the Husbands esp. Max were great additions to the show !! :);)

Interesting thread. I will say its rare for a sitcom to go over 5 seasons and still remain interesting. Most times the introduction of new characters fail. But a few sitcoms like Roseanne and One Day At A Time.....it worked. I liked the husbands and Alex. When the girls grew up, there were no longer any teenage scripts to write about. I think they did a great job with everyone growing up.

As a new viewer to the show, I'm enjoying the early years a lot. I like the show focused on Ann, the girls, and Schneider. I was glad to see Ginny didn't return in season 3. I didn't care for her taking screen time away from the main characters fans were still getting to know at an early stage in the show. I am dreading when I get to season 5. I read that's the year Julie leaves and then we get some kid in season 6. I feel like that's going to be a whole new show since the premise so far is about Ann and her daughters.
