I thought Eb dressed as strange as Oliver for farm work. Eb always wear THREE LAYERS to work in, an undershirt, a button shirt then a big flannel coat over that! Even when it was said to be in the 80 degree weather!! Seems this would be extremely uncomfortable!

You are expecting something realistic from any of the Green Acres characters? Really the only one who could maybe pass as normal was Sam Drucker.

With the exception of Oliver and Lisa didn't everyone else on the series have kind of a "uniform" they wore. Take a look at the picture of the cast going into season 1, Mr. Kimbell Mr. Haney, Mr. Drucker, Fred Ziffel even Doris wore essentially the same outfits all the time.

I think Mr. Drucker and Mrs Ziffel were the 2 most normal ones

Come to think of it most all of their clothes look uncomfortable for hot weather, and it always looked fairly warm. Mr. Kimball also wears a rather heavy looking coat on top of a button shirt

I had a jacket nearly exactly like Eb's back in the 60's - I thought it was cool to be like Eb - my fav on the show

It is cool! :) It's just when I'm watching Eb and Oliver out in the field with the sun on them, I'm thinking how do they not burn up!? lol

Eb's jacket became popular in the 60's and 70's. They were called CPO coats I believe. I had one and loved it. Correct me if I am wrong about the name of the coat.

They're called CPO jackets—that stands for "chief petty officer"

It wasn't his clothing choices that got me to think that Eb was uncomfortable, it was his being so TALL and lanky and barely fitting into any vehicle he'd have to drive!

I suppose they could have adjusted the seats, etc. to be more practical for him but I guess they wanted the comic effect of this lanky guy not fitting in!

A pea coat (or peacoat, pea jacket, pilot jacket, reefer jacket) is an outer coat, generally of a navy-coloured heavy wool,[1] originally worn by sailors of European and later American navies.[2] Pea coats are characterized by short length, broad lapels, double-breasted fronts, often large wooden, metal or plastic buttons, three or four in two rows, and vertical or slash pockets.[3]
