In S1:E20 when the boys are enrolling in the scout troop, Eddie states his name is "Edward Clark Haskell, Jr."

In later episodes Eddie's father's name is Frank or George.

I guess the producers thought the audience had very short memories, season to season. There must have been 3 Mr. Haskells.

IMO, the last one, during season 6 seemed to be about the type of persona who would have a kid like Eddie and was showed the man as he was, beset by Eddie's "Eddy-ness" The other two seemed to be oblivious to his smarmy and scheming ways.

Mr. Haskell was played by three actors--a few appearances in the early seasons by Karl Swenson, and in season 6 by George Petrie. In those appearances he was George Haskell. In a single, brief appearance in season 4 (in Eddie Spends the Night), he was played by John Alvin, and was called Frank Haskell.

They made some silly consistency errors in season 4, like that one. Another led off the season--in Beaver Won't Eat, they debated getting Mrs. Bronson to babysit Beaver. By then it was well-established that Bronson was June's family name. And then Gilbert's last name hadn't been mentioned since his debut in season 2 (in that episode, it was Gates). So in around 3 episodes in season 4 and 5 they used Harrison. Then later in season 5 it became Bates.

I don't think anyone watched for continuity with scripts. Some sitcoms have a person in the credits for Script Continuity. I think that's a title you see in the Andy Griffith credits, for example.

Oh, and Eddie himself. Yeah, the Jr. reference is bad enough, but in later episodes I think a few references are made to Edward J. Haskell. For instance, I think that showed on a shot of his gas station credit card.

I just checked and Karl Swenson's first appearance as George Haskell was in S1Ep13 Voodoo Magic. So the Jr. reference in Ep20 is really an unforced error.

Of course things like this are less noticeable with one episode per week over six years vs. ten episodes a week over around four months.

Was Eddy a product of his upbringing ?

Mr Haskell's occupation seems to change also. Office job, then Eddie bragging about him owning a garage.
