Pav --

What are "TV Tales?" Is this something like "E! True Hollywood Story?"

Regardless, I will check it out.

Thanks for the post! You rock!!!:notworthy

They are like 'biographies' of TV shows. Like A&E is doing TVography now, E! is doing TV Tales. E! has already done 3 episodes of this series, SNL, MASH and Love Boat.

FOL and Golden Girls will both be shipped off to TVLand leaging me with endless reruns of Drew Carrey and This old house. Then loosing all interesting channel leaving me with CNN and Cartoon Network. Damn Cable Company. I hate this news.

This sucks. As you can already tell, I'm pissed. Why couldn't A&E do the Golden Girls TVography? Or the FOl TVography. Sorry, but this really does suck.

Why do all my fav tv shows have to be on networks I don't get? Why do they have to air these specials on channels I don't get? Why are here 15 sets of Hooters on the coffee table? LOL sorry had to add in something GG related. ;)

Bea Arthur was the one the wanted to end the show. The show was still good when it ended BUT . . . no Bea just had to leave the show. Oh well, I guess Betty White really showed her. Go Betty! :D

No, I know Bea wanted to leave and end the show. That's not why I'm potentially upset with her---it's the concept of her havin' somethin' against Betty that irks me!!

C'mon Bea, fess up---what's the deal?!

Well it was 7 years. If Bea was tired, I could understand. I mean if I was doing something for 7 years, I'd get tired of it.

WHAT'S WITH THE HOSTILITY WITH BEA THESE DAYS? I WATCHED AND RECORDED THE GGS FROM 85 - 92 AND DID THE SAME WITH THE GP. BEA WAS NOT THE REASON THE GGS ENDED AT ALL. IN FACT, SHE WANTED OUT DURING THE FIFTH SEASON. THE SHOWS CONTRACT WAS UP AND THE NETWORK WANTED SOMETHING NEW. FYI, BEA APPEARED ON THE GP IN NOV. '92. I HAVE MET BEA IN PERSON AND CAN HONESTLY SAY SHE'S A LOVELY WOMAN WITH GREAT TALENT. AND THIS STUFF WITH BETTY WHITE IS NONSENSE TOO.

A few months ago, on Entertainment Tonight - Where Are They Now?, Rue McClanahan was on, and she said that Bea Arthur wanted to leave the show after the first season.

I also read somewhere, and I really wish I could remember where, that Bea Arthur did not like the way her character was being written.

As for the GG special, why couldn't it be on A & E? It is something I would really like to see, and it will be on a station that I do not get.

I recently saw the TV Tales on "Who's The Boss?" and it was really boring. Hopefully The Golden Girls will be a lot better.

FLASHBACK. Every Saturday night for 7 years and every Friday night for 1 year I sat with two French bread pizzas with the VCR remote in my hand and the ringer turned off on the telephone for the golden Girls and The golden Palace and I did the same again tonight for the first time in almost a decade.

The E! story was terrific. This was the best reunion there could possibly be for the Golden Girls without tarnishing the original concept of the series. I was very happy that The Golden Palace was featured as well, too bad it didn't go on for seven years too, just bad timing and bad promotion, shame on CBS!

Kudos to E! for finally bringing The Golden Girls into the spotlight for those of us who cherished this show during its original run, and for the newcomers who are discovering this wonderful piece of magic ten years after its cancellation. As Bea said tonight, it was a love affair!

It was a good "reunion" of sorts. I'm glad they didn't bring up this supposed feud between Betty and Bea, but from what I saw, there was no feud, maybe some arguing here and there. The way Betty talked ("Bea and I have/or had been friends for years") it seemed as if nothing bad had happened between her and Bea. And it was nice to know that Bea loved working on the show.

I was really impressed with the E story. I was very glad to actually see the actors today. I appreciated the fact that THEY appreciated the show so much, and made it a very professional atmosphere.

There were a couple things I was disappointed in, but probably couldn't have been helped...

1. They should have addressed Estelle's Parkinson's disease. By not saying anything about it they almost want to hide her today. It should have been explained why she did appear in the documentary.

2. Same for Herb Edelman. I mean, what would the show have been without the "loveable yutz" Stanley Zbornak. He played a key role in the series.

3. I wish they had done more behind the scenes. I know there are outtakes in shows (when filming is screwed up because someone cracks up on a joke). It would have been neat to see a little more personal side.

Really, though, they are minor complaints. They expressed how much of a hit show it was, explained the hows and whys, and gave me a chance to see them today.

I think we should all email E and tell them how much we enjoyed the show.

Again, I loved it too. It was a great special, and much awaited by all of us fans (besides the separate Intimate Portraits). Yeah, I agree, they should've talked about Estelle and Herb a bit more. It was also nice to see Harold Gould as well, that was a surprise. I also was a bit surprised the special mentioned The Golden Palace. Oh well, it was really really nice to hear how the girls loved working on it as much as we enjoy watching it, especially Bea, because I had my doubts about her feelings on working on it.

That's almost exactly what I was going to say! I loved the show, I of course taped it and it will give something to do those nights when it's 2:30 in the morning and I can't sleep. :D

I think they should have mentioned Estelle's Parkinson's disease so it would explain to people who aren't that well informed about why they just used past footage of her. I think if they mentioned Rue's breast cancer, they could have mentioned Estelle's disease as well. Also with the Herb Edelman thing, I found it kind of weird that they talked about him but never the fact that he passed away. You would think they'd mention that especially since whenever they talked about someone from the show they cut into an interview with them.

Overall, this show was everything I expected it to be and more. I was pleased that they had stuff on The Golden Palace as well.

One of my favorite parts though was when Rue was talking about how people would ask her if she was just like Blnache and she said how Blanche was man hungry, etc. and was from Atlanta, Georgia and then she said, "And I'm not from Atlanta." I thought about it for a second and then couldn't help but laugh.

I saw it earlier this year in March or Feb or Jan (I can't remember LOL). I taped it. It was wonderful. I'm sure it will reair again. Yeah I agree they should've mentioned Estelle's Parkinson's and Alzhiemier's disease (if she has both). Maybe we will find out if she has both or not in this reunion special. I never saw TV Tales The GG when it was first aired because I didn't know about it. I enjoyed it when I did see it though.
