As for June's comment about waiting while the TV dinners defrosted - I am assuming it was just a joke. I like to think pre-prepared meals would be anathema to June.

Also, the New Jersey license plate Richard is looking for gives us a clue about the eternal question of what state Mayfield is in. It is obviously not New Jersey, nor Pennsylvania. But it could be nearby New York. After all, if Mayfield were in the Midwest or West, how likely is it that you would see two New Jersey license plates?

I agree with you about June, but remember that TV dinners were once promoted as "modern" and "futuristic". Telling your friends that your family was having TV dinners that night was avant garde....until word about the blah food quality got around.

The turkey might have been good if you could find it under all the gravy and stuffing.

Campbells gave up on Swanson, but I think the Banquet ones are still around. I never had the nerve to try one of those.

It was the "b" definition that I meant.

About the book covers: This is a good example of a detail that could have added more realism to the scene, if they had added some fake author names. As it is, the books just look like fake books. I'll bet the director thought that adding author names would have distracted the viewer from reading the titles. But I don't think this would have been the case, if they had printed the author names in small type.

I'm sure too, that it would taste better, just having June serve it to you.

I don't know why, because my mother otherwise was a decent cook, but whenever she served frozen dinners, she always served them just the way they came out of the box.

I can dress up something like Stouffer's Lasagna or even something as simple as Campbell's chunky soups by adding a few extras, that make them seem like a real treat.

I guess she just figured they were intended to be served exactly as made?

It would be neat if someone from that show was here with us :)
