I like Floyd Lawson just enough to put him as a contender on my top 1100 scripted characters updated list (link to the final version is in my signature). But he was the only one of several contenders from The Andy Griffith Show who didn't make the cut. Floyd was awesome, hilarious, memorable, and much missed after he left the show, then and now.

Floyd is one of the funniest characters on the show. But since it only works because he is eccentric, you really can't base an entire episode around him...but is is a superb secondary character.

The fact he didn't make your list left me shaking my head especially considering some of those that did. I also didn't see anyone from Get Smart so I take it you're not a fan of that show.

I caught a Jeopardy! a couple of days ago, first thing you notice about the guy (Aaron Rodgers? Who he?) is his annoying response to correct answers, a brash "Yeah!"

He must have barked that out a dozen times... Alex T. he is not.

He was superb in the fistfight episode.

I like Floyd. His character really fit well with the rest of the cast.

Let me add. Most of the earlier seasons characters/cast really complemented each other. That is one of a number of reasons the black and white episodes are great.

Floyd Rocks! "Floyd, the Gay Deceiver" is one of my favorite episodes. Howard McNear also played Doc Adams on the radio version of Gunsmoke and Parley Bear (Mayor Stoner) was Chester on the radio. McNear also appeared as a barber on Leave it to Beaver in season 2.

Kurt Cobain was a fan of "The Andy Griffith Show" and thought "What if these people were sadistic killers," which was the inspiration for 'Floyd, the Barber' on Nirvana's debut album 'Bleach'.

I thought he was kind of meh but Barney ruled.

A great character done by a unique and amazing actor.

I loved Floyd in "Convicts at Large" episode. Sadly, that was his last pre-stroke appearance.
