Out of all the Growing Pains episodes I've seen my favorite is Dirt Bike from Season 1 and each time i've seen it I laugh and laugh like crazy when I see it. But there are things that I cannot figure out about the episode that could've been better,
1. Even though Maggie and Jason told Mike not to go dirt biking in the first place and just go camping with his friends Mike went dirt biking anyway. Didn't Jason And Maggie tell Mike in the first place no dirt biking for fear of his safety?
2. When Mike and his friends arrived at the campsite and Mike saw the dirt bike he should have said "no" when he should've told his friends he was forbidden to ride the dirt bike but Mike did anyway and got injured. I think Mike's friends should've taken the blame for Mike's accident and called Jason and Maggie and told them what happened
3. Using a nickname at the doctor's office was nothing for Mike to keep his injury from being looked at and also making up a story about attending a pizza party and then sitting on a hot pizza is not okay because nobody cannot sit on a pizza. I think Mike used a nickname instead of his name because he was afraid the doctor might get him in trouble and call his parents
4. How Jason got a dirt bike for Mike is beyond me? Mike was in trouble and Maggie only knew about it because right after Jason got the dirt bike the doctor called to tell them and Mike never even told his parents the truth about what really happened
So I think this episode of Growing Pains really showed Mike Seaver's wild side and though I think it was wrong to bring Mike to the movies when he was supposed to be grounded and punished was wrong. I think as parents Jason and Maggie never seemed to realize what a personality their son had and this episode proves it well

I think part of the reason why Mike got injured in the Dirt Bike episode of Growing Pains was that Mike felt that nobody cared about him and he wanted to do things his way like in the intro Mike tells everyone about a chickadee that he discovered and then tells everyone to see it but nobody seemed to care. But not knowing that Mike was injured made me shocked that Jason and Maggie were not told about it and Jason and Maggie Seaver should've cared more about Mike's safety and the friends should've called them first. I think Jason and Maggie Seaver were poor role models for TV parents on family sitcoms and that's why you see more TV parents on sitcoms who are nicer today
