Here's my opinion:

If the teenager was pulling a gun on the cop, then I do believe the cop has a right to hit him or either pull out his gun. The way your post sounds though, I would say the hit came after the cop had already put the cuffs on right? I don't know how many people could attempt to pull a gun out if their hands are cuffed, so I guess the officer had the right if the teenager was attempting to kick or harm him in anyway. It would be wrong for the cop to strike for no reason.

I have heard similar things just like gbscott's post. I've seen so many police videos of people being pulled over and the cop just kicking the person around for no reason. In my opinion, if you want to hurt people for no reason then you don't really need to be a cop. JMO

I've seen a tape of the happening you're referring, too. I believe it's the one anyway. It's all over the news and the father of the teenager is now sueing. It looked to me as if the situation was under control when the officer struck the boy. I think that's uncalled for. Even if the boy said something to the officer I don't think the officer had a right to strike him. They have to be able to control their anger.

Sometimes, unfortunately, I think cops abuse the privlige.

I see this on KTLA every morning and from the looks of things, the kid wasn't being "hard to handle" so to speak. Maybe he was before the camera was rolling, who knows. I'm sure the security cameras will tell the tale.

This cop also beat up another guy, putting him in a coma. Dude needs suspension...permanently. This country has no use for badge heavy cops.

LOL! Yeah, that show rules. I shocked my folks last weekend by calling some driver "hinky." They had no idea what I was talking about.

There was no need for the abuse. None. The kid didn't even do anything. Did he? It was just his dad. It just reminded me of the hell the african americans went through a while ago. I'm scared of the police now. Their job is "to protect and to serve." They weren't exactly protecting the kid, they were serving him punches. I saw a clip on mtv news and a bunch of officers were holding him so officer morse could punch him in the face. it's so....cruel. he didn't deserve that.

GOOD. Several witnesses then, and maybe those officers'll stick up for the poor kid. Man, I hate stories like this...

oh, well at least some people are decent human beings.

I think Officer Morse should be fired. He used unnecessary force. It was totally uncalled for.

I think the officer should be fired and thrown in jail for assault. There was no need for him to punch and strangle and slam the teenager against the car.

I also heard that the child had some retardation problems, that's just mean for them to do that. Those pigs need to stop doing that I've heard of 2 cases of Police brutality in the past week!

I think it is insane the people who shot the video were arrested.
