Their executives have been very frank to explain that they are still in business because they make more selling streaming and international rights to their shows than they lose on the network itself. So how long does CW have left until the loses become too big ?

Bring the FROG back !!! The CW was a terrible experiment.

CW is not going to die anytime soon, it is most likely focused on dramas only, no more comedies.

.

I only after having read this post, decided to "flip through" todays CW schedule in my local programming guide.

Didn't see one show that I would be willing to alter my personal schedule in order to watch.

Their problem, IMO, is that they have the wrong people trying to decide what is "hip", and will attract an audience. Of course they don't give a crap about what I think, the advertising market for reverse mortgages, medicare supplements, and stair-climbers is already pretty much tapped out. So let them choke.

And the simple truth is, excessive commercials is what is killing TV. Much more than 7 minutes per half hour, and I just lose interest. They are shooting themselves in the foot believing that increasing the commercial loading will allow them to sell slots cheaper. What value is the slot to begin with, if nobody's watching?

THAT is what is killing them.

And the CW shows do well with the streaming audience. The CW basically exists as a way to get advertising dollars on top of streaming.

What's even worse is that pay movie stations like HBO have flashing ads on during the movie.

Bring the FROG back !!! The CW was a terrible experiment.

As much as I miss The WB, it would most likely get the ratings The CW has. The problem isn't the name, it's what they want to air. There's too many superhero shows and teeny bopper dramas. It's overkill so people lose interest. Last week, The CW had their first regular series hit a 0.0 in the demo (https://tvline.com/2021/04/01/tv-ratings-american-housewife-season-5-finale-renewed-cancelled/). They need to go back to a variety of series instead of constantly having one type of show dominate the networks programming.

Except for comedies, they ran into too many multi-discrimination incidents in the former WB network's upper-level office part before WB's shutdown back in 2006. So CW will no longer have comedies in it anymore.

It should only have a variety of only teen dramas, superhero shows and reality shows only combined.
