I'm surprised at this change, I thought The Flintstones was doing well. The Addams Family has only 64 episodes, METV tends to schedule shows that can run for awhile in a timeslot, I don't see that happening here.

Cool that we are getting a new cartoon for Saturday morning. Overall, it's not a bad deal for 60's sitcom fans.
Svenfan1234 04-02-2021, 07:26 PM I like seeing Pink Panther here and I wonder if it's going to be thrown in with the other Toon In with Me cartoons during Toon In with Me on Weekdays. The Addams Family probably isn't going to last long in that timeslot and likely will go back to Flintstones, in my opinion, but they should still have it on Sundays or something like that.
cnnbcbs 04-03-2021, 03:59 AM Hoped they would've added Woody Woodpecker or another HB cartoon, but still a move in the right direction I guess.
stevea 04-03-2021, 08:28 AM I like seeing Pink Panther here and I wonder if it's going to be thrown in with the other Toon In with Me cartoons during Toon In with Me on Weekdays...
I hope so. Some of these b/w cartoons that go back into the early 1930s are a real drag (IMO) and I wouldn't mind seeing them reduced.
TVLegend 04-03-2021, 11:29 AM Small schedule change. I hope this isn’t the official Summer Of Me schedule. Nice to see The Addams Family though!

Woody Woodpecker is by NBC Universal
Metv only have Access to the warner bros cartoon Library
merlinjones 04-03-2021, 01:55 PM Re: Addams Family and Pink Panther. Maybe a result of This-TV sale - the MGM/UA library now available. Could Patty Duke and Mister Ed be on the way? Svenghoolie could get some AIP movies.
AMackII 04-03-2021, 05:38 PM Pink Panther could be a rightful add into the SatAM anime block on MeTV
stevea 04-03-2021, 06:45 PM Right, it was added. They took a half hour of Popeye away.
I wonder why The Addams Family is replacing The Flintstones.
space1999 04-03-2021, 08:47 PM The Addams Family could just be a Summer of Me thing. Only a short-term airing through the summer and The Flintstones will return in the Fall. I remember The Flintstones brought in huge ratings for MeTV and started the cartoon revolution on the channel, so it would be strange to see it phased out weekdays permanently. Only time will tell.
Pink Panther is an excellent choice to the Saturday Mornings Cartoon block. I guess Popeye isn't doing too well, so they cut a half hour on them.
The only thing I'm worried about with MeTV, is that they get too looney toony with the lineup. I love the cartoons but we still have a huge library of retro live-action shows that could be on the channel and also the dream continues for when they finally replace/cut out the boring weeknight lineup and the westerns.
Will Popeye still be shown though?
Charley Knox 04-03-2021, 11:10 PM Will Popeye still be shown though?
Yes.

I don't think they are going to get too out of control and fill the schedule with just cartoons.
Old School 04-04-2021, 03:39 AM The Pink Panther is one of the weakest cartoon series that MeTV could have selected in my mind...not interested in viewing it in the least.

Totally agree, so many better options. I would add that if they don't want Flintstones in the evening, they should try it at 6am paired with Toon In With Me.

A cartoon series that won an academy award for best animated short is not weak sauce. The original series stayed on Saturday mornings for 11 seasons.

I think DePatie/Freleng put their full efforts into the Panther. The Warners toons, many farmed out to Format Films, were an afterthought, unfortunately. At that point Freleng was done with Warners, figuratively.
TVLegend 04-04-2021, 07:54 PM Why can’t the weekday westerns decrease to at least three westerns per weekday? I know most of the westerns bring in so called magnificent ratings, but wouldn’t this 12:00PM-4:00PM weekday schedule at least be somewhat acceptable:
12:00 PM Gunsmoke (30-minute episodes)
12:30 PM Gunsmoke (30-minute episodes)
01:00 PM Bonanza
02:00 PM Wagon Train
03:00 PM Remington Steele
Charley Knox 04-04-2021, 08:10 PM Unfortunately, the Westerns still pull in the numbers. Fortunately, a schedule with nothing but Western programs is probably a big turn off to potential advertisers, or else we would probably see nothing but Westerns on METV.
If you ever watch METV during the middle of the day, all you will see is adds for reverse mortgages and Medicare.

It’s been YEARS since we’ve seen MeTV with less than four westerns per weekday

I think their biggest mistake, was firing Chuck Jones just because he was moonlighting on an Animated movie project for a rival studio. I think they also lost their head story guy, Michael Maltese to H-B and Chuck Jones animated studio. I don't think Maltese ever gets enough credit for his contributions in the field of animation.
I'm a Flintstones fan, though I haven't been watching the me reruns since shortly after it started airing. There still will be three episodes on Sunday mornings.
I haven't seen Pink Panther cartoons in eons.
stevea 04-04-2021, 10:46 PM I really think seasons 1 and 2 of the Flintstones should be TOTALLY restored, which has never been done and probably never will. The ABC b/w films are probably available, but the proper episode credits would probably have to be colorized, as the original negatives are (again probably) lost. And while they're at it, do the same with Top Cat.
Re post 26 Maltese SHOULD get credit--he wrote virtually everything for Chuck Jones, and a fair amount for Freleng, too. Also the lyrics for "What's Opera Doc?".
Jones should have somehow demanded his contract allow him the rights to the characters he created. Then we probably would not have ever had those gawd awful Format Films Road Runners.
Charley Knox 04-05-2021, 02:00 AM It’s been YEARS since we’ve seen MeTV with less than four westerns per weekday
Just like you, I love to see the Westerns cut down to only 3hrs a day through the week. They could start slowly weening them off, by adding shows like Dallas to the schedule at 4:00pm.
1:00 Gunsmoke
2:00 Bonanza
3:00 Rifleman or Wagon Train
4:00 Dallas
Hawkee 04-05-2021, 02:04 AM METV is gonna get The Addams Family? I'm surprised that they are doing this because this may be a sign that METV will have a new image soon. I do find it odd that METV is getting rid of The Flintstones weekday airings and reducing it to Sundays but I can guarantee that this is gonna be the start of METV's new and improved Summer Of Me schedule and they will probably bring The Addams Family back for Halloween 2021. As for Pink Panther cartoons being added to METV I think METV is gonna focus on cartoons for the weekend mornings and since they already have The Jetsons they think that with Pink Panther it will be successful in their eyes

I grew up as a kid when The Pink Panther was on tv and didn't watch it back then.
So many more better cartoon series to select from like The Smurfs, Yogi Bear, Casper The Friendly Ghost, Mighty Mouse, Scooby Doo, Mr Magoo just to name a few.

merlinjones 04-05-2021, 02:19 AM How does The Addams Family promote a new image? It's a baby boomer staple and fits right in on Me-TV.
Shows I would like to see added: Pee Wee's Playhouse, Jonny Quest, The Little Rascals
Would like back: The Wild Wild West, Batman (remastered)

Keep the Rifleman. It's the only one where I like a few of them (it's all about me!)

The Wild Wild West is on Screenpix Westerns if you have Xfinity.

I would keep The Flintstones and add The Addams Family at 6:30 as Happy Days is about to go into the bad seasons cycle by May.
TVLegend 04-05-2021, 11:11 AM Keep the Rifleman. It's the only one where I like a few of them (it's all about me!)
Time for The Rifleman to go. They could pay for airing Gunsmoke so long and in the same spots by airing the 30-minute episode versions titled Marshall Dillon and Bonanza by airing the lost episodes if they aren’t doing so right now. If they can’t get rid of the Weekday Westerns entirely I’d like to see Wagon Train move up to The Rifleman’s 2:00 timeslot and Remington Steele returning, replacing Wagon Trian’s previous 3:00 timeslot.
TVLegend 04-05-2021, 11:32 AM Shows I Would Like To See Added: Too Close For Comfort, Laramie, The Life & Legend Of Wyatt Earp, The Real McCoys, Jake and The Fatman, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Here’s Lucy, The FBI, The Carol Burnett Show (one hour episodes)
Shows I Would Like To See Return After Hiatus: The Andy Griffith Show (color), The Donna Reed Show, The Twelve O’Clock High, Batman, The Incredible Hulk, Mr. Lucky, The Outer Limits, Remington Steele, I Love Lucy, The Lucy Show, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda, WKRP In Cincinnati, The Bob Newhart Show, Taxi, Cheers, Get Smart, The Phil Silvers Show, Gunsmoke (30-minute episodes)

Gunsmoke will probably cycle back to the start (30min episodes)in October or November. They are two episodes from season 13 right now.
cnnbcbs 04-05-2021, 07:39 PM I knew someone would defend pink panther, accolades don't mean anything if I don't care for it. I generally don't care much for cartoons with silent leads, Tom and Jerry being an exception but even then in limited doses. Maybe they're trying to squeeze out the betty boop a from popeye. To each their own.
I would schedule mornings:
6:00 Saved By The Bell (e/I)
6:30 Flintstones
7:00 Toon In With Me
Sundays
8:00 Flintstones
8:30 Yogi Bear
9:00 Flintstones
9:30 Top Cat
10:00 Flintstones
10:30 Jetsons
11:00 New Scooby-doo Movies

space1999 04-05-2021, 07:44 PM It has been years since we have gotten less than 4 hours of Weekday Rope Opera. If any show needs to taken off, it should be Wagon Train. I understand Gunsmoke and Bonanza are time-honored classics and bring the big ratings for the channel. The Rifleman has been on MeTV since it's inception, so I dont see that show leaving either.
1:00 - Gunsmoke
2:00 - Bonanza
3:00 - The Rifleman
3:30 - Dragnet (take it off the 6-am timeslot to air something else)
4:00 - Police Story, Police Woman, The FBI, Hawaii Five-O, The Mod Squad etc..
5:00 - Adam-12
MeTV use to have 4 - 7pm being the block where they air action/drama/detective shows. Now we only have one hour of that genre with Adam-12. It's time make room of it again.
stevea 04-05-2021, 08:52 PM 5 - Highway Patrol
530 - Donna Reed
6 - My Three Sons
630 - Flintstones
4 - Dragnet (original remastered)
430 - Dragnet (color)
Saturday
10 - Yogi Bear
1030 - Huckleberry Hound
11 - Bullwinkle/Rocky and Friends
1130 - Top Cat

Appears that Mama's Family on Sunday will be the only show pre-empted by this event. I wonder if Svengoolie will show The Ghost And Mr Chicken as part of the event?
Between this, the Bugs Bunny event and 2 new show addditions, looks like METV is preparing for a very busy May.

Nah, I'd rather happy days move to 5 instead of Adam-12.
I know Adam-12 isn't for everybody but if Adam-12 gets taken off and replaced with a sitcom, that would make a straight 12 hours worth of shows that are either westerns or comedies on the channel. I miss the old charm where the channel had more variety of genres.
