"Bless the Harts" To End with Season 2 on Fox

The current second season of Fox’s "Bless the Harts" will be its last. Fox has confirmed that the comedy will finish out its current season in May and will not return to the schedule.

While the network was happy with the show creatively, it never gained traction in the ratings, averaging at a 0.5 live-plus-seven in adults 18-49 with 1.4M total viewers and 2M multi-platform viewers.

It would've done better if it weren't constantly preempted by baseball, football and NASCAR shame it was a good show and yet they'll keep such stale shows as the Simpsons and Family Guy.

Well, I've watched The Simpsons and Family since the beginning of each and didn't care to watch Bless the Harts. The Simpsons and Family Guy are still funny compared to other so-called sitcoms on the air CURRENTLY. (Comparing present episodes to past episodes is pointless.) Never thought Bless the Harts was funny.

I like Bless The Harts. The Simpsons could have been cancelled 25 years ago. Family Guy, is still pretty good. I don't know what goes on at Fox, but they need a major tune up.

Read what I wrote. I never said The Simpsons was as good as it was at some past time. I said it's better than most other comedies on the air TODAY (animated or live action). It's certainly funnier than most of the stupid live-action comedies that you probably watch. Family Guy as well. As long as this is true it should stay on the air and I will continue to watch it. You're free not to watch it or whine about it as well.

I'll miss Bless the Harts. To me it was funny. It wasn't over the top like The Simpsons or Family Guy but it was subtle. You can't be over the top all the time.

Kind of a female King Of The Hill minus the brains.

I'm also mad about Bless the Harts getting buried in the 7:30 PM slot, because this was FOX-TV's opportunity to introduce a FRESH new animated comedy show to represent the 2020s on the "Animation Domination" (or, as I like to call it, "Animation Evolution") lineup, and they blew it BIG TIME. What makes them think The Great North will be a sustainable/long-term success for the network?

To Wiseguy2: Quite frankly, such burials in favor of more seasons of The Simpsons and Family Guy NEED to be whined about. And it doesn't help matters that comedy on U.S. broadcast TV has been on the decline ever since The Big Bang Theory ended. Based on what you're implying, you don't want ANYTHING fresh on the Animation Domination lineup. Have you ever checked out Bob's Burgers at least once, or do you hate that, too?

There's simply no way the Bless the Harts cancellation would happen if The Simpsons had already went off the air. It made The Simpsons's 34th-season renewal look like a mistake when season 33 could have been announced as the last one. If FOX-TV gets more orders for FRESH new animated series-es in the future, then maybe The Simpsons doesn't need to continue to air first-run. You can offer your opinions without bashing and calling-out others for simply stating they want The Simpsons to end for real. I'm beginning to think you've been brainwashed by Al Jean (the current showrunner for The Simpsons).

Ths coming from a person who wasn't even born when The Simpsons first came on the air (I was born before its fifth season started).

Sundays at 7:30PM the kiss of death should've had the 8:30 or 9:00 slot would've done better but then again being preempted by football NASCAR and various award shows didn't help either.

The show (https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/bless-the-harts-canceled-fox-1234943003/) didn’t really appear to have much of a chance for a number of reasons, chief among them being that it wasn’t well-established and was being thrust in with various other shows that had been there for a while and had already been able to hold onto a fanbase for a good amount of time. Every show was a new program at one time or another, but the fact is that while some shows manage to become popular with the fans, others don’t quite grab at people in the same manner and as a result won’t go much of anywhere when it comes to renewing them for a second season. It could be anything that made it less than possible for this show to come back since low ratings usually mean that people didn’t like the show, but there’s a lot that goes into low ratings, such as the fact that people just didn’t like the show or felt that it wasn’t worthwhile to invest themselves in. That’s a big part of any show to be realistic, since investing your time and emotion into a show can be a huge undertaking that might be worth it to some people, while others will happily plop themselves down and watch one episode after another in order to stay up to date with the story. It would appear that Bless the Harts wasn’t able to create that need in enough people though since it had the lowest ratings of the various shows that it was featured alongside. But again, if people aren’t willing to make the effort to really get into the show then it’s a non-starter and needs to be taken off.

There are only so many time slots available especially for a network that doesn't broadcast in the final hour of prime time. Something has to go in the 6:30pm CT time slot and FOX is the one to make that decision.

If that's true, then why don't you just come on here and discuss The Simpsons's and Family Guy's recent episodes instead of just targeting and bashing other users simply for wanting those shows to end their runs and wanting newer shows to be the next major hits for a network, and have everyone in this forum thinking you're a troll? If The Great North had NOT been ordered to series, then FOX doesn't need to be having any new episodes/original programming in the 7 PM hour at all (it's repeats that are usually programmed on that hour, and any originals scheduled there are of shows that are being buried by the network). What you are refusing to understand is shows end their original runs to make room for new shows, and limited timeslots on a network are one reason why. It's always been that way in U.S. broadcast television, and always will be.
