after the 1974-75 season. Maybe the ladies all over the country watched it for eddie prinze but so far nothing has made me laugh. I didnt want to overreact after the first 2 or 3 episodes thinking it would get better. But there has not been one episode yet that I can say was entertaining. I think most of it has to do with Ed being so damm irritable every episode. Like he is mad that he is still alive. And all this is with eddie prinze on the show so I can only imagine how bad it was when he was no longer on the show.

The sammy davis episode is coming up and looks like maybe the only watchable episode in the series.

BTW: how did Jack Albertson win a Golden Globe?

It helped that it had Sanford and Son as a lead in. The other part is that Freddie Prinze had been super hot as a standup comic in the year or so before the show started. He was the young guy everyone was expecting to be a huge star, so he drew a lot of attention.

Well that explains it a little more because Ed is just too dry and unlikable. I see the next episode has Mrs Roper on it from Three's Company

Watching the Mrs Roper episode and its the most entertaining episode of the season so far

I like the show, but maybe that’s because I watched it with my Mom when I was young and it brings back good memories, but It’s almost impossible to watch Season 4. I think we stopped watching after Freddie Prinze died.

The Sammy Davis episode, which I expected is the best one so far followed by the Beard with Mrs Roper from TC. Seems like Ed showed a more likable side toward the end of season 1 by actually dancing with sammy which shocked the hell out of me. And then the episode when he setup a date with a woman and after he hung up said........"Looking good" lol Damm why did it take so long for the character to open up? Well Im about to start season 2

I used to watch it in syndication, but don't recall seeing any of the episodes without Freddie. The earliest seasons were very popular no doubt.

I remember the theme song, "Chico, don't be discouraged... The man, he ain't so hard to understand..." Have not watched an episode literally in decades.

It’s one of my favorite theme songs.

Watching the 1st episode of season 2 and it was a All in the family reference with Ed acting like Archie and some man who came into the station imitating edith. Why make reference to a #1 show on another network?

I believe it had something to do with the competiton because in season 2 when it went up against Mash the ratings fell completely. So where did all these fans go in season 2 since it was so good?

MASH was one of the most influential series of the 70s and popular even outside the States.

The DVD's that was sent to me I ended up throwing them all away lol It didnt live up to the 3rd best show of that season behind Sanford and Son and All in the Family. I had high expectations
