Two weeks after a racism controversy prompted CBS to put The Talk on hiatus, the network announced that Osbourne has decided to exit the daytime talk show -- which will return on April 12. CBS said in a statement that Osbourne's behavior "did not align with our values for a respectful workplace. We also did not find any evidence that CBS executives orchestrated the discussion or blindsided any of the hosts." Osbourne's defense of her friend Piers Morgan's attack on Meghan Markle prompted an emotional discussion on The Talk on March 10. Two days later, CBS announced it was putting the show on hiatus. Over the past two weeks, allegations emerged that Osbourne made racist and homophobic comments (https://www.primetimer.com/item/Report-Sharon-Osbourne-would-use-racist-and-homophobic-slurs-on-The-Talk-calling-Julie-Chen-quot-slanty-eyes-quot-and-Sarah-Gilbert-quot-p-ssy-licker-quot-DjSLMv) on set, which she denies (https://www.primetimer.com/item/Sharon-Osbourne-says-new-allegations-she-called-Julie-Chen-racial-slurs-including-quot-wonton-quot-are-quot-crap-all-crap-quot-KrSBvG). "Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave The Talk," CBS said in its statement (https://twitter.com/yashar/status/1375588904024244226). "The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home. As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace. We also did not find any evidence that CBS executives orchestrated the discussion or blindsided any of the hosts. At the same time, we acknowledge the network and studio teams, as well as the showrunners, are accountable for what happened during that broadcast as it was clear the co-hosts were not properly prepared by the staff for a complex and sensitive discussion involving race. During this week’s hiatus, we are coordinating workshops, listening sessions and training about equity, inclusion and cultural awareness for the hosts, producers and crew. Going forward, we are identifying plans to enhance the producing staff and producing procedures to better serve the hosts, the production and, ultimately, our viewers." CBS also announced that the April 12 return date will come after a pre-planned hiatus for the week of April 5. Osbourne, who was the last original panelist from The Talk's 2010 debut, has yet to speak out about her exit.

But CBS should still have plenty of time to cancel The Talk immediately anytime before the unofficial start of Summer.

Sharon Osbourne to Receive Huge Payout after Leaving "The Talk", 'Wants to Give Her Side of the Story': Report
by Dave Nemetz
March 29, 2021

Sharon Osbourne is leaving "The Talk"… but she’s not leaving empty-handed.

The former co-host — who exited the CBS daytime talker on Friday after a controversial on-air debate with co-host Sheryl Underwood and accusations of racism behind the scenes — will reportedly walk away from the show with a payout between $5 million and $10 million, a source tells the New York Post.

Plus, she’ll be able to speak freely about what really happened from her perspective.

“Sharon will talk when she is ready,” another source tells the Post. “She still wants to give her side of the story. She has been on that show for 11 years and knows all the secrets.”

(A CBS spokesperson calls the Post story “false, inaccurate or untrue. Take your pick.”)

Don't open your mouth if you're white.

Otherwise you can say whatever you want.

IMO they should have gotten rid of her long ago! This . .. individual BRAGGED about forcing her own kids to take dumps into boxes which she would then send to folks she didn't like! UGH!! NASTY!!! Why the network and her co-hosts didn't get rid of her right then and there I will never understand!

She'll forever be known as someone who took a massive payout to hold firm to her racist beliefs. Pure trash. She should have been out ages ago. In fact, she should have been let go after the first season instead of Holly and Leah.

Classy! How awful for her children. And the fact that she bragged about this shows how untouchable she thought she was.

I don't care for Sharon Osbourne, but I also believe this "racist" charge was blown way out of proportion.

Jerry O'Connell is reportedly close to replacing Sharon Osbourne on The Talk (https://www.thewrap.com/the-talk-jerry-oconnell-host-sharon-osbourne-replacement/)

O'Connell is nearing a deal to become the CBS daytime talk show's first full-time male co-host, reports The Wrap's Tony Maglio, based on a source. Another source tells him negotiations have been ongoing since May. O'Connell has been a regular on The Talk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrPzWRf9qIA). He would take over the seat left by Osbourne, who departed in March following an on-air flare-up with Sheryl Underwood. O'Connell is no stranger to daytime TV. He has guest hosted or guest co-hosted The Wendy Williams Show, The View, the Today show's fourth hour and ABC's Live with Kelly. In summer 2019, Fox stations tested O'Connell's daytime talk show Jerry O (https://www.primetimer.com/item/Jerry-OConnell-to-host-the-game-show-Pictionary-in-a-Fox-TV-stations-tryout-ZGSZZm). Last month, O'Connell was tapped for another Fox stations test run as host of the game show Pictionary (https://www.primetimer.com/item/Jerry-OConnell-to-host-the-game-show-Pictionary-in-a-Fox-TV-stations-tryout-ZGSZZm).

“It Was Like I Was Dead”: Sharon Osbourne Details Career Fall-Out in Controversial Departure from "The Talk"
by Caroline Frost
April 24, 2022

Ahead of her return to the UK to both live and work, Sharon Osbourne has given a detailed account of her abrupt departure from CBS’s "The Talk" last year.

When Piers Morgan notoriously voiced his disbelief in what Meghan Markle had to say about her mental health to Oprah Winfrey and faced thousands of complaints to the UK regulator Ofcom (he later left his morning show broadcaster ITV), Osbourne tweeted her support for her longtime friend.

This caused an on-air confrontation with her "The Talk" co-host, Sheryl Underwood, who asked Osbourne live on air if she was racist, and an altercation followed. She then faced further claims by colleagues of bigoted remarks, some of which she admitted, some she denied.

Now she tells The Times that her card was already marked, with CBS issuing her marching orders.

“They said to me, ‘You are on permanent suspension. We don’t think that you’re repentant enough. And we will decide whether you ever come back.’ And I said, ‘Well, who’s going to make that decision?’ And they said, ‘We can’t tell you.’”

Osbourne described the trolling and death threats that followed, and also how, following a US career of more than 40 years, she realized it was time to return to her native UK.

“My phone as far as my TV career here [was concerned] was non-existent, not one call. Nothing. In England and Australia it never changed. Here it was like I was dead.”

“Everybody’s scared of saying something wrong that somebody would take and sell. It’s no way to bloody live. I don’t want it. I don’t need it. It’s just our time to go home.”

Osbourne will join her pal Morgan on TalkTV, the brand new television channel being launched this week, and built on the hopes that Morgan’s strong opinions will find a global audience with his primetime talk show being aired in the US and Australia, as well as the UK.

Osbourne’s panel show will follow, with its strapline ‘Straight Talking Starts Here’. Its presenter claims there will be no holding back by her or her star guests. “You say what you feel and you’re not following one party at all. I don’t trust anybody. I just don’t think anybody’s there for the right reason.”

Sharon Osbourne Says she Regrets Apologizing to Sheryl Underwood after "The Talk" Feud
by Armando Tinoco
May 15, 2024

Sharon Osbourne is recalling "The Talk" incident from 2021, which led to her firing, and says she regrets apologizing to Sheryl Underwood.

In a new interview, Osbourne wishes she hadn’t taken her kids’ advice in apologizing to her CBS daytime talk show co-host after a heated discussion about race.

“I apologized to her, I didn’t want to because I felt I didn’t do anything wrong,” Osbourne said on The Sage Steele Show.

“But my kid said to me, ‘Just apologize to her. Maybe you’re wrong and she read you wrong or something, just in case, apologize.’ And I did. I apologized to her. I called her. She wouldn’t pick up my calls and then she lied and said I never apologized. I have it all documented on my phone. You can never say that anymore because your ass is busted.”

When Steele asked Osbourne if she regretted apologizing to Underwood, she said, “Yeah, I do. I’m like, **** you. **** you! She knew what I was. She’d been in my home, she’d gone to England with me. She always joked that she wanted to be an Osbourne and she wanted to marry my son Jack.”
