Stockton was the last original announcer from the start of Fox's NFL package in 1994. In announcing his retirement (https://awfulannouncing.com/fox/dick-stockton-reportedly-retiring-after-more-than-five-decades-in-broadcasting.html) Thursday after 55 years in broadcasting, Fox Sports said that Stockton had called 1,545 televised sporting events, a record for a U.S. sports broadcaster. Among them was Carlton Fisk's walk-off home run in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series, which earned Stockton iconic status because of his 36 seconds of silence.

Congrats to him. I liked his calling of NBA games on CBS during the 1980s. I didn't realize he had a history as a baseball announcer. Dick was also a good football announcer, even though he was never one of the top NFL guys at the network.

I go back to when Dick worked at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh from 1967-71.
