I think 7:00am is obviously a bad time slot for sitcoms. Before Toon In With Me, Gilligan had the 7 slot but was moved back to Sundays with improved ratings. Same deal with Green Acres a few years back on METV Saturday mornings.

Assuming Catsrule is correct and Joey expired, Antenna was probably unwilling to pony up and renew it. By putting McHale back in there they could be ceding that hour. They were probably losing it anyway, and they still have all their junk ads, no matter what.

So the end is coming for The Joey Bishop Show, I was wondering how much longer Antenna TV would be running the episodes. I recorded all the episodes (except for season 2 because I have the DVD set) back in 2017 when Antenna started running them and still had a full screen picture. These days in 2021, I now receive Antenna TV in a shrunken down, square size picture with black bars on all four sides of the screen, it looks absolutely terrible and I will not record anything from that channel again unless they go back to full screen and I doubt that will happen.

The Joey Bishop Show just left the Roku channel.

That's too bad because Roku had the complete episodes for seasons 3 and 4, unlike Antenna TV's airings which are edited.

Well, looks like the CBS shows are expiring. This will be even more evident if Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Mork & Mindy are removed from weekends. Also, Gimme a Break returning to 5pm Weekdays...:p

They should add Gidget and The Flying Nun to the Saturday afternoon/evening lineup.

I wish Antenna TV didn't hate Jack Benny so much, would easily take him over dumb McHale's Navy in the noon hour. He does not have to be always paired with Burns and Allen just because they were good friends... It's not like they are putting another female starring show at noon between Hazel and Jeannie either. They will be unwatchable there once That Girl moves, but that might be fine with the longtime Andy Griffith hour on my FOX there (while they are in black and white seasons anyway). It is good to see Barney Miller get a primetime hour back (good riddance to Archie Bunker), and Coach switching places with Designing Women is great. Here I thought Who's the Boss? was doing well. The new 5-7PM is an awful downgrade, but that's a trade I will take for Barney Miller back. New weekend schedule not known yet, would be nice if Wings replaced Dear John Sundays at 11:00 and My Two Dads replaced The Hogan Family at 7:00. It won't start until April 17 with whatever marathon the 10th has.

It would be nice to see Jack Benny atleast air 12AM-1AM Saturday’s. Moving Dennis the Menace to 2AM-3AM on Saturday’s and Mchales Navy at 3AM-4AM on Saturday’s.

I was getting Antenna TV with a full screen picture until around the time Nexstar took over. So I don't know if Nexstar is to blame for the change in picture size or if it's the local affiliate.

Why repeat Bewitched and Jeannie in the afternoon and the shows from 2am-5am? I would rather they keep Who’s the Boss?, Growing Pains and The Facts of Life on weekdays, even in the graveyard slots. I knew Who’s the Boss? wouldn’t last long on weekdays since it doesn’t seem to do well in syndication but I wasn’t expecting it off the weekday lineup altogether already. I thought The Facts of Life would’ve had a more successful run weekdays, too.

I feel the same way a lot of you do about Who’s The Boss?. My thought is perhaps they are getting ready to launch ATV 80’s. Perhaps Who’s The Boss? Will be a big player on the new ATV (80)’s channel. Reduced airring times will make it look fresher on ATV (80)’s.

In the same breath I’m happy to see Antenna TV Returning to its Classical ways of more (50’s & 60’s & 70’s).

Atleast try it out in primetime. I see ODAAT has a almost primetime slot

I imagine the overall ratings for outlets like Antenna TV and MeTV aren't that grand (live ratings in general are stinky), so I wonder what a show would have to get to consider it doing well enough for the prime slots.

I usually tune out of Alice once the Flo era ends ("Flo's Farewell airs tonight at 7 p.m. EST). Flo isn't the only character I like; it's just I find that cast dynamic stronger than the ones that followed.

Did Linda Lavin force Diane Ladd out too, or was she just a flop as Belle. Ironic since she was the otiginal Flo in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore.

She never felt threatened by Polly Holiday, the plan was already in the works for her to have her own show when Alice first started

^Indeed. Also, some have gone on about Linda rolling her eyes when Polly would get a laugh in the fourth season. She would often roll her eyes at a Flo response, though that was in character- and she also did so with Vera and others.

I do believe any "rivalry" has been blown out of proportion by some- and that's supported by Polly's comments in 1980 upon leaving the show, as well as the history of Polly's series option as early as season 1 of Alice and the Flo spin-off.

What's Happening Now should not have 2 consecutive hours. What's worse is that takes over both Saturdays and Sundays. Benson gets horrible treatment again, its weekend hour should have stayed with What's Happening Now replacing already on weekdays Gimme a Break at 3PM. That is a bad trend to start, nothing has usually aired more than one hour except for marathons. Early mornings sometime, but never in evening. I do like the return of My Two Dads to Sundays in primetime.


With a few exceptions, all of the shows are cheap. Makes me wonder how they are doing financially.

Antenna TV does have its Saturday NITE of good oldies. I do agree Antenna TV needs more Sitcoms from the 50’s & 60’s as well for Primetime/LateNITE/OverNITE also for EVERY NITE just like NICK at NITE delivered back in the late 80’s.

Thanks for the link, I was able to watch the Joey Bishop episodes online when Roku had them but Filmrise doesn't seem to work for me, it's telling me I need to purchase a Roku device to access programs and I'm not going to bother with that. I did do a search for The Joey Bishop Show on the Filmrise site but the response came back and said no search results found. :confused:

So I guess I will just stick with my homemade DVD's of the Joey Bishop episodes, airings I recorded from Antenna TV but many thanks for posting the link.

I still don't think much of Norman Lear overall. However, The Jeffersons is a big step above his other shows. I didn't realize the Jeffersons creators also created Frasier, they know how to make long-running spin-offs.
