Watch Plympton's oddly touching "Homer's Family" short, featuring Homer's facial features transforming into his family members.
The Simpsons hits 700 episodes, but showrunner Al Jean laughs at the idea of making it to Episode 1,000 (https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/the-simpsons-700-episodes-clip-al-jean-1234934371/)
Jean notes that it would take 12 more years for The Simpsons to hit (https://tv.avclub.com/the-simpsons-700th-episode-reminds-us-why-the-a-v-club-1846524713) an even 1,000 episodes. “We’re going to definitely do 757,” he said. “I wouldn’t say that’s the end but I don’t know how much further we can go.” But Jean said making it to Episode 1,000 isn't out of the question when many classic animated series keep getting rebooted. “As soon as they cancel us, they’ll reboot us,” he said. “I’m confident, after I’m gone, there’ll be some sort of ‘Simpsons’ coming. It’s too ubiquitous to think that it’ll just disappear.”
ALSO:
Episode 700 is a Christmas episode (https://www.themaineedge.com/buzz/the-simpsons-showrunner-al-jean-talks-700th-episode): "Even though it’s airing in March, it’s actually a Christmas episode because I think people need two Christmases this year," says showrunner Al Jean. "It’s a story involving Homer and Ned Flanders and a secret connection they have. It includes the reveal of a secret room in The Simpson house that has been in plain view for the entire run of the show. A lot of secrets will be revealed, and I think it’s a really sweet story."
Matt Groening picks his favorites, from guest-star (Albert Brooks) to couch gag to catchphrase (https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2021/03/19/the-simpsons-matt-groening-picks-favorites-700th-episode/4761319001/)
