I think Alice only wore her waitress cap twice, in the very first episode and either in the 2nd or 3rd one, but never any more. I wonder if Linda felt it was degrading in some way? lol It seems Vera did not wear hers as much toward the end.... but Flo, Belle and Jolene always wore theirs

No, Alice was the last one hired until Belle then Jolene came along. I don't recall any of them being considered the 'head waitress' instead of being equal subordinates bossed by Mel!

Of course, it's odd that she got ANY tips since she was the one who dissed Mel's food the most often.

Alice is obviously the star of the show, BUT Flo always seemed to be the ring leader in the diner.
