View Full Version : Steven Weber on "Wings" Revival
JamesG 03-10-2021, 07:14 PM They are rebooting and reviving everything these days, so where’s the "Wings" revival?
I get that question asked all the time! It’s not up to me. You’d think by this time, somebody would have said, “Hey, why don’t we do that?” Unfortunately, we lost [cast member] David Schramm last year, and that notwithstanding, I think it’s a possibility.
One of the reasons why the show worked as well as it did for as long as it did was because it’s the perfect platform, it’s the perfect kind of situation. Stories, literally, walk in and fly out every week. Hell, I’d do it.
Tim Daly, the handsomest man in North America, I’m sure he’d be up for it. There are ways to do it. Who knows, maybe we could do a darker version of it. I don’t know. Maybe not.

This I'd like to see, most of the cast in decent shape besides David Schramm? Perhaps his (gay) son could now run his company?

I don't know. While I'd say almost no cast member was expendable, Roy was one of my very favorite characters. 30 years later we still do his bulldog laugh around our house. :-) And once in awhile somebody will let out a "RAH-rah-rah-rah-rah!"

He will be missed but I'd love to see this series back with new episodes.
Duster76 04-11-2021, 11:08 PM Fuggedaboutit! There are a few other problems in addition to the passing of David. To begin with, Rebecca Schull turned 92 a few months back, so the Fay character is probably out of the question. Crystal Bernard has completely disappeared. A Youtuber (I think his name is David Sundstrom) did a video awhile back titled "Whatever happened to Crystal Bernard", after eight or so minutes the video concluded with David not knowing whatever happened to her. Crystal's last IMD credit was almost 13 years ago! The rest of the cast assuming you could get Tim, Thomas and Tony interested are all in their 60's so it's hard for me to imagine how this cast would be able to fit into their roles as fledging airline operators, off the wall mechanic and their cab driving pal. Actually the four of them together would a make a great cast if someone wanted to take another shot at "The Cool Kids" (that show should have worked, I think these guys would knock a project like that out of the park).
cloggedmind 04-12-2021, 01:48 AM I'm half-n-half on wishing this would come back. It was sooo good it's hard to let go, that's the problem.
This show was so perfect as it was. The definition of ensemble cast. However, I can't help but be nostalgic enough to want to see the remaining principle characters together again, at least for a limited time. Just a little peek into what their lives might be like, now.
The loss of David Schramm hurts a helluva lot, leaving a major void that cannot be filled. I would hope Rebecca Schull could be included, somehow..
Tony Shalhoub is never more than 4 feet away from the Antonio persona, I'm sure he could jump back into that, easily. Maybe even add something new? He's quite versatile.
And I'd want to see Lowell again.. And, and, AND-- Gilbert Gottfried should return as Louis Blanchard! But without the incomparable William Hickey, maybe he could be paired with Bob Newhart or something and have the tables turned and have Bob torment HIM?
Maybe I'll just go rewatch the series again? Yeah, and have a Big Sandwich! And.. a Diet Cola!!

I see what you mean about Crystal Bernard, Wikipedia has nothing recent on her either.
Update: Crystal Bernard is apparently doing well as recent as 2020, here she is singing a duet with Jim Messina "Watching The River Run":

That's actually from 1996, not 2020.

That's correct. That duet was featured on an album by Jim Messina that was released in 1997 titled "Watching the River Run". The video has been posted on Youtube on numerous occasions. I can't find anything on Bernard after 2008, it looks like she retired from public life.

Her last credit was a Lifetime movie in 2008 called Grave Misconduct.

I mentioned in an earlier post a YouTube video posted by David Sundstrom with the title "Whatever Happened To Crystal Bernard?". I went back to YouTube not to watch the video again but to look at the comments, sometimes those comments provide further details. Her niece took the opportunity to comment:
farrah dias
as the niece of crystal, I wanna say she’s doing great and thriving in life ! it’s crazy seeing all these fans from back in the day.
There was an additional comment from someone with the handle Last Gamer:
" I sold a pinball machine to Crystal and her husband 4 months ago. Lovely people".
She apparently lives in Texas and has retired from the business so it's doubtful (I guess) that she would be willing to participate in a series reboot. There was a book written about the series but Crystal was not available to be interviewed.
