View Full Version : Eliminate one thing from existence...
Dude111 03-07-2021, 11:57 PM What would you do away with if you could??
I would eliminate digital from ever happening..... It has ruined so much beautiful analogue stuff its not funny.....

icecream 03-08-2021, 02:38 AM Rats
Bats
Mosquitos
Flies
Hip Hop and Rap music
Selfies/Selfie sticks
Motorcycles- such an annoying, pesky sound when they often go by on the busy street by me. Now Fonzie on a motorcycle, that can stay.
Most reality shows
all wrestling and boxing
Tattoos
all obscenity, profanity, and pornography- TV-MA shows go away, plus all the filth magazines.
strip clubs and any portrayal of them on TV- I hate when an otherwise good show throws this in.
Coffee/anything espresso flavor
Alcohol
Mushrooms
Olives
Match Game- Replace all airings of it on BUZZR and GSN with the Dick Clark Pyramids.
Friends, The Golden Girls, and The Office- These lousy sitcoms would be replaced with Corner Gas, WKRP in Cincinnati, and The Wonder Years (original 80s/90s version) on all cable stations.
the way too big section of shows being remade instead of original ideas- As a big fan of the original Frasier, its legacy should have been left in the decade it originally aired. Frasier never should have been revived with no more John Mahoney.
the number one- This one is a joke as I listed way more than one item.
Peanut butter, aka the scourge of civilization
Ah man!!
All of man, or you got someone specific in mind?

All fine, noble, and worthwhile causes to eradicate, But c'mon, peanut butter has to go first. And jelly (it knows what it did  )
Caroline13 03-08-2021, 08:08 PM We were not a peanut family where I grew up, so never had it as a young person..but my grandkids did and then found how many people have peanut allergies. I believe I got some really achy joints from some roasted peanuts some time ago, I quit buying them.
Many have SERIOUS allergies to peanuts...when I feel a little flush and get the urge I will buy some whole foods cashew butter.

Nope, peanut butter is magic! It's the best way for me to get my dogs to take their meds, LOL!

Just make sure it doesn’t have xylitol.
From the American Kennel Club....
Health Alert: Xylitol
Most peanut butter is safe, but some can be deadly. Recently, some peanut butter manufacturers switched to using the sweetener xylitol. Xylitol is a sugar substitute often found in sugar-free products like chewing gum, toothpaste, breath mints, chewable vitamins and baked goods. It is safe for people, but toxic to dogs.

Always! They get the limited ingredient, high sugar varieties and the labels are checked with each purchase.
GentlemanJim 03-09-2021, 11:37 AM How about people who harass wild animals? There might even be some comedic potential there.
A parent who warns their 5 year old to leave the geese on the beach alone, but the kid ignores and starts chasing them anyway...until *poof*...no more kid....

Caroline13 03-09-2021, 10:03 PM A huge annoyance I'd like to see gone is go back to good old People Customer Service...no more pushing 10 buttons to get to the area you need to be and then told "leave a message and someone will get back to you"...sure in a pig's eye.
I'm thinking most here don't recall those days but maybe some of you.

GentlemanJim 03-10-2021, 09:10 AM As far as I care to think about it, the "cancel culture" has just about outlived it's usefulness, we can get along just fine without it.

What's wrong with diversity and knowing what is going on in the world, Life is not a constant Sitcom.
Although I do get a lot of laughs from one other forum I'm on, omg, what a crew, good thing I have a SOH and laugh at their rampages... Dude, I think you know which group I'm thinking of, I know call it all comical what comes out of their mouths. I ask them which planet they come from...no answers.

Maybe 6 months ago or less I would have said get rid of emojies as I could not get into them, now I find them very useful, one emojie can say a lot.

I agree with that. Going back to old fashion customer gives a person a job. As long as people don't swear and grumble too much, I would take the position.
Fleet 03-25-2021, 01:03 AM Weeds. Some are scary (to me) and there are too many.
Vulgar language. I prefer watching movies and TV shows with without hearing stupid swearing. It's completely unnecessary.
Motorcycles. Too loud (most of them). We should not have to hear them go by at 120 decibels!
CNN! (Keep Fox News; much less biased than the former.)
Caroline13 03-05-2024, 02:23 PM Emojie use is overdone but one emojie that I'd pobably use if if were available is a "F" emojie or maybe there is one but I've never seen it ... I never said the F word until I was 84 or so....don't love the word but it's used by so many and soo many young people.....

My vote goes to eliminating the cellphone. Yeah that's right.
I think society would be in a much better place if the cellphone was never invented.
Dude111 03-06-2024, 06:06 PM I agree since its more than just a phone now!!

If what you think offends others, that is their problem. I have made it to 85 and no cell phone and my life has been good, very productive -- I wonder which generation you are from,,,
Thomas Edison made it just fine, as did J.C. Penney and the Sears Roebuck tribe and 1000's of them.
I thought for a long while how the tv invention did so much damage starting with the little ones....TV has been good in it's place but today, omg....
Caroline13 03-06-2024, 10:27 PM Oh what I'd like to be rid of are the lying politicians, lying is their major occupation.

The cellphone is not the problem it's what came after the cellphone that's the problem, namely the apps. Texting, the camera are the biggest offenders. We should have stopped at the flip phone.

Yes I have to agree, and I was so close many times to buying a cell phone and it just never happened.....it all got bigger in our lives when I was in late 50's my 60's and retiring... if the phones had been big at a sales job I had, I know my boss would have one planted on me, he had a pager instead to "get me"....
Dude111 03-08-2024, 01:32 AM I agree totally!!!!!!!!!!
But people cant see whats dangerous and ended up letting GOVT into thier very lives and dont even realise!!
Peanut butter.
Almost as bad as grape seed extract. Maybe worse.

PS: And of course we'll never know the cancer rates since the explosion of EMF's...
EMF's are money makers for the industries.
Well and healthy people don't bring in the money for them....
