Hearing about Janice's freak accident breaking her right arm made me realize that I've been lucky to avoid any major injuries.

When I was in the fifth grade, I fainted face first off a stage during choir practice. One of my front teeth broke in half, but they were able to bond it back together. I also cut up my lip pretty badly, so I needed some stitches. My classmates must have been traumatized for life witnessing that and seeing a pool of blood.

I pushed/punched my right hand through a glass door window pane when I was in high school. I had a pretty deep cut, but it only required a couple stitches.

I haven't had to visit a doctor for over 30 years. I had a mild case of pneumonia a few years ago, but I felt back to normal within a week.

My worst injury has been at the hands of the medical world, a hip replacement 10 yrs ago that has pretty much crippled me. So much damage done from the surgery, from shorter leg, IT band damage, femoral nerve damage, lots of numbness and neuropathy.

I do all I can to steer clear of docs and for sure their knives.

I was running, and I fell, landing on my face on cement. Thank God, I was wearing braces at the time, or I would have knocked my front teeth out.

My worst injury was falling in the garage and breaking my right wrist. I did it on a friday night and waited until monday to see my doctor who sent me to an orthopedic surgeon. The bone had started to knit back together but it wasn't aligned right so the doctor had to rebreak it and line it up and cast it. Hurt like h*** both times.

When I was 10 years old I fractured my skull.

I was helping my parents and my cousin get a load of wood for our wood furnace. I was standing behind the tailgate of my dad's truck. He didn't know where I was. When he cut a tree vine a sapling flew up and whacked me in the back of my head. I hit my head on the tailgate on my way to the ground. I was unconscious for about 15 seconds. I remember waking up on the ground and noticing that my head was just inches away from some cow dung. My parents finally drove me to the emergency room a few hours later after I began vomiting. I was in the hospital for a few days.

The date was 10/31/87. I had planned on dressing up as Pee-Wee Herman for trick or treating that night.

That's remarkable! Consider yourself very blessed!

3 months before I was due to graduate from college, I was a passenger in a 90 mph auto accident and broke my L1 vertebrae. 5 weeks in the hospital...and took all my final exams in a back brace. The only artifact I have from the whole ordeal is excellent posture from the time I spent in the back brace.

The scariest injury I ever had was a tiny knick on one ankle, that ended up getting infected with a penicillin resistant infection, that ended up turning my entire leg red like a firetruck. They admitted me to the hospital for a little over a week, with a constant IV pumping me full of Vancomycin. Which some regard as an "antibiotic of last resort", used only when all else fails.

Odd side effect of the Vancomycin, I had terrible trouble with an arthritic knee over the few years leading up to the infection, and two days into the IV treatment my knee started feeling like it was lubricated...and has never bothered me again since.

I’ve broken 5 legs.

Luckily none of them were mine.

i've had a whole lot of moderately bad injuries.

when i was a toddler i cut off the index finger on my right hand with an electric carving knife - they were able to fix it with full function and to this day we aren't allowed to have an electric carving knife in the house.

also as a toddler, my idiot dad put some cleaning solvent in an old coke bottle in the garage - well I drank the whole thing and had to spend a week in the hospital. I still don't drink coke to this day.

i've broken every bone in every finger multiple times and had stitches over 50 times by the time I was 20. I blew out both of my knees playing hockey and have had 3 surgeries to remove torn cartilage.

When I was playing defense I knocked the puck off a guy's stick just as he was crossing the blue line to put him offside, well he drove his shoulder right into me at full speed and knocked me down - I thought I just got the wind knocked out of me but i had 5 broken ribs and punctured my lung.

I rebroke my ribs a few years later - long story short I fell on a drum stool - that was probably the most excruciating pain I've ever felt. The moral of the story is never try to stand on a drum stool, they spin.

i had an incident where someone was cutting metal siding with a circular saw and i looked the wrong way as i walked around the corner and got a hot metal shaving right in the eye, had to go to the ER and they had to call in a specialist to get it out

just this week i was trying to be all fancy cutting carrots on the bias with a mandolin - of course not using the guard - and managed to cut off the tip of my thumb, i krazy-glued it back together though, so it'll be fine.

I broke my ankle about 15 years ago, by falling on ice, in my driveway. I was in a cast for about 4 months. That was the only broken bone I've ever had.

When I was 7 my brother had his feet sticking up in the air and I sat on them. He pushed me up into the air and I fell awkwardly on the ground fracturing my left elbow.

I shut the car door on my pinky. I also closed a steel door on my index finger. Both were extremely painful.

I had a run-in with a glass storm door on a windy day, at age 6. The glass shattered against the center of my forehead. A trip to the ER and seven stitches to close the cut.

A minor motorcycle accident when I was 17 caused me to fracture a rib. It took MONTHS to heal and coughing and sneezing were excruciatingly painful. Sleeping was also wretched; I awoke every time I shifted in the night.

An ingrown toenail and a blister.

LOL!

I spent two weeks in the hospital after being shot slightly above my heart with a .22 handgun when I was 20 years old. The bullet is still in me as we speak. Wrong place, wrong time.

We're all glad that it missed your heart. I'm reminded of the Reagan assassination attempt.

Slammed fingers in car door at about age 6. It hurt so bad for a long time. Luckily it was my left hand and I'm right-handed.
