I just recently have watched the Good Morning Miss Bliss episodes and am a little curious about this. I realize that they wanted to center the show more around the kids and that Zack Morris was probably definitely going to switch over. However after Zack there I can't see any particular reason just from the episodes why they chose to keep Screech and Lisa and drop Nikki and Mikey. They very easily could have kept Nikki and Mikey and dropped Screech and Lisa (infact I think if they had kept Mikey over Screech the show may not have become as goofy as it did with all Screech's nerd jokes he did in Bell).

With the kids did it just come down to contract negotiations with the actors and that is why Nikki and Mikey didn't go over or did it have more to do with the particular stories they felt like doing and they thought Lisa and Screech were better suited for those stories?

The Saved by the Bell Reviewed blog theorized (https://web.archive.org/web/20180306083916/www.savedbythebellreviewed.com/category/all-good-morning-miss-bliss-episodes/good-morning-miss-bliss-recap/) that Heather Hopper (Nikki) was dropped partially because she wasn't considered as conventionally beautiful as Lark Voorhies, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, and Elizabeth Berkley.

The SBTB Reviewed blog also said that among the five kids on GMMB, Max Battimo (Mikey) had the least to do throughout the series. Unlike Mario Lopez's A.C. Slater (who you could say in essence, replaced him on SBTB), Mikey was shy and sensitive and a nice straight-man or Zack and Screech. However, for the rest of the time, Mickey just comes across as Zack's lackey.

I thought at the time as a child, Nikki was cute and had a crush. Clearly Kelly would become Zack's crush, gf, wife etc. I always felt they took Nikki and split her into Kelly and Jesse lol

I felt like that's what they did, as well. Jessie was more of an activist than Nikki, and Kelly was more popular, but she was at that intersection. And they even said that Nikki was Zack's best friend since first grade... then Jessie was Zack's "best friend since the first grade". :lol:
