The Young and The Restless (often referred to as Y&R) is an American television soap opera that was created by husband and wife William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell for CBS that is set in a fictionalized version of Genoa City, Wisconsin. The show’s working title was originally “The Innocent Years!”, demonstrating the innocence of America and the characters but the creators soon realized that America had lost much of it’s innocence and changed the show’s name to “The Young and The Restless”, reflecting the youth and mood of the early seventies. The Young and The Restless originally focused on two core families: the wealthy Brooks and the working class Fosters. After a series of recasts and departures in the early 1980s, all the original characters except for Jill Foster Fenmore Abbott Atkinson were written out and replaced with new core families, such as The Abbotts and The Williamses and later other families such as The Newmans, The Barber-Winters, and The Baldwin-Fishers. Even though the soap changed a lot over the years, the long lasting feud between Jill Foster Fenmore Abbott Atkinson and matriarch Katherine Chancellor stayed in tact for four decades, going down in history as the longest rivalry on any American soap opera.
Days Of Our Lives (often referred to as DAYS or DOOL) is an American daytime soap opera broadcast on NBC.
