If anybody has this episode on their DVRs or on DVD, there's a small detail that cracked me up that can be viewed by freeze-framing.

After Beaver, after being socially coerced by his classmates, calls Linda Dennison "a smelly old ape" and gets into a scuffle in the hallway, the principal Mrs. Rayburn sends a letter to Ward Cleaver.

As Ward is admonishing Beaver for his behavior, there is a quick, maybe not quite 2 full seconds view over Ward's shoulder of the letter. It's 3 paragraphs of word salad of trite sayings, obvious filler and gibberish. It's almost like the producers thought doing this rather than a "real" letter would be a fun way to mess with the audience a little.

Check it out if you can.

I don't remember where or when, but I've heard about this! But, not what episode it's in. I'm checking that out.

Back in the day, lol: "Hey, we better clean this letter up--those people in the future, in the 21st century, might just see what we wrote!"

It's also the episode where we find out that Mrs. Rayburn's first name was Cornelia. Also worth mentioning is a line from Beaver when he asked Ward about a bad name, he said "I guess there aren't any nice bad words."

I believe that a lot of those old shows were produced with little thought that audiences of the future would have "freeze frame" control at their fingertips.

Didn’t we also hear Cornelia Rayburn in Beaver Gets ‘Spelled?

Mrs. Rayburn is told by Miss Canfield that Ward had an accident as Beaver said their oven blew up so Mrs. R sends Ward flowers. On the card it says ‘hope to see you back on your feet again Cornelia Rayburn.’ June doesn’t know who she is.

Now that you mention it, we did!
