Just 4.83 million watched (https://awfulannouncing.com/fox/lengthy-rain-delay-results-in-record-low-daytona-500-ratings.html) Fox’s broadcast of the rain-delayed Daytona 500 on Sunday.

Maybe Rain Delay is the reason for Daytona 500’s low viewership

Just like the Super Bowl is to NFL The Daytona 500 has always been known as The Super Bowl Of NASCAR and I think part of the reason why this year's Daytona 500 got low ratings is because it was on FOX and when FOX broadcasts any big sporting event they usually get celebrities from FOX shows to help promote it and when you have the Daytona 500 especially to racing fans it's like a child celebrating a big giant birthday party. But I think due to hard times I think FOX didn't promote the Daytona 500 enough and the advertisers gave them a low allowance for commercials when every time the Daytona 500 is shown every year they would have lots of commercials get airplay and since lots of fans turn the Daytona 500 into a viewing party they show more commercials for Pizza Hut and other foods but since the pandemic started I think NASCAR racing attendance has also dropped dramatically as well and they have kept trying to give NASCAR racing a new image starting last year. I also cannot figure out why Sasha Banks was chosen to be the starter for this year's Daytona 500 because she was mainly there so that she could promote WWE Smackdown since it airs on FOX and I can say that when it comes to sporting events FOX has become the king of sports but I hope that CBS or NBC could air the Daytona 500 next year because it would garner huge ratings and attract a larger audience because NASCAR is still popular and it will continue to be popular in the years ahead
