I'm pretty sure Ron Howard is doing okay at his day job; so it's not a big deal if the drummer career doesn't pan out.

Yeah, but he was such a terrible Actor in reality. No wonder he got out.

Really? I thought he was very believable as Richie Cunningham, whether or not he could play the drums.

He was also terrific as Opie on The Andy Griffith Show.

Well, it somewhat was refreshing to see Ritchie not be perfect at something- and most garage bands have had at least one fair-to-middling performer in it (which is why the bulk of them have never become world headliners).

It's not ABOUT Musicianship, it's about Acting. Anson Williams and Donny Most are acting their butts off. Potsie lip-synching perfectly and Ralph going wild on the piano to a fast song like Splish-Splash while spaz Ron Howard is Drumming as if Love Me Tender is playing. Just a bad Actor. Always was. Is why he went behind the camera full time.

Yes he was, and as Opie, and in American Graffiti.

You're not taking into account that he might have been doing that on purpose.

Yeah, Mr. Howard was such a bad actor that he costarred on 'Andy Griffith' for eight years before getting cast in 'American Graffiti' then having the 'Love and the Happy Day' episode of 'Love, American Style' written and produced for HIM which ultimately lead to 'Happy Days' itself being written and produced for him. Producer, directors, fellow performers and the viewing public alike by and large were enthralled with his acting performances for decades and , had he loved acting, it's likely he'd still be acting but he became enamored with the production of TV and movies early on and that's why he's maintained that as his career since 'Happy Days' ended.

A child Actor does not an Actor make.

Theres a reason he stopped Acting

Yeah, and that reason is because he discovered early on that he liked directing more!

As Opie, he was probably reading most of his lines off of cue cards.

Did Opie ever play the drums?
